Installing new openATV 6.4 in a multiboot environment
Hi,
I have an Xtrend ET8500 set-top-box with multiboot capability, OS 1 and OS 2.
OS 1 has the factory system, OS 2 has openATV 6.2. Works well!
I would like to install openATV 6.4 on OS 1 by overwriting the factory system.
Can I do this?
(I haven't done this yet and I don't want to lose my existing openATV 6.2!)
My questions would be:
1.) I insert the USB drive into the box with openATV 6.4. If I rename the "noforce" file on the USB drive to "force", it will automatically start the installation after the box is turned on or ask me where to install it (OS 1 or OS 2) ?
2.) After turning on the box, if the option does not appear and installation starts, can I cancel the installation so that the system on the box is not damaged? I do not want to lose the existing system!!!
3.) How can I make a full backup of my existing openATV 6.2 system on OS 2 to a USB drive that I can reinstall on the box in case of failure?
4.) If I overwrite the factory system with the new openATV 6.4, will there be enough space in that box?
Look forward to your response.
Regards,
Alec
