openATV 7.3 USB Image Howto (only Original Box)

openATV 7.3 back for DM800SE only working with Original Box

the openATV image is meant for USB boot, here is a simple guide for installation

Prepare:

you need a USB Key or USB HDD min 1 GB, i have test a cheap old Laptop SATA HDD
usb cable connect to USB Console Port for Update Bios Settings

Install a old openATV 5.1 Image: Download

the install script was only tested with this image!

Flash the openATV 5.1 Image with your webbrower

now connect with putty to your box and run this script:

wget -O /tmp/installusb "http://source.mynonpublic.com/installusb" && chmod 777 /tmp/installusb && /tmp/installusb

The script starts
Now connect the USB stick and select the device
Important all data will be lost

The USB stick is now formatted and the openATV 7.3 image is loaded and installed.

After the installation is complete, restart the box, remove the USB stick and change the bios to USB boot.

Enable USB support
change with page up/down to USB and add /autoexec_dm800se.bat

save config and restart

now power off the Box connect the USB Key and start
Box now Booting with openATV 7.3

to boot from flash again change bios setting to flash and delete the entry

I have 6.0 installed in flash and I put dflash on usb I understand the commands are dflash so I think I have to reinstall without dflash

I did everything installed in usb changed bios put usb as tutorial but on restart it stays on ip dream and stop doesn't move



everything ok i changed usb stick this one installed everything game 7.3 beautiful now i install other things

ok I managed to enable USB, but the primary is still the flash and I can't set it as secondary, at the reboot it starts every now and then even the 5.1, thanks Captain

The installusb script doesn't work when using a 1G usb stick.
I shrunk the swap space to 256M, then it fits,
Just change these lines in the installusb script:

${SELECTDEV}3 : start= 657408, size= 486291456, type=83

I was also searching if boot from sata is possible, the cf boot looks promising, but I have no idea how this works.
In my search I found this site:MediaBoot Script (en) – Gemini-Wiki.
You can run the /root from sata by this:
Change Command Line [ENABLED ]
Kernel Command Line [console=ttyS0,115200 rootdelay=10 root=/dev/sdX3 rootfstype=ext4 rw]
I use a 4G sata TS4GSDOM22V, bootdelay=1 also works fine.
The /boot still runs from the internal flash, so you should copy /boot from the rootfs.tar to the /boot of the internal flash.
Booting form the sata DOM is about 15sec faster compared to booting from usb entirely.

Da steht drück irgendeine Taste um neu zu starten (noch bei der weissen Schrift) und bei der grünen Schrift steht drück die Enter Taste damit es weitergehen kann.
