Re: Hauppauge Dual Tuner USB support
@Captain Und welche Art von Dual-HD-Tuner ist es, denn wenn ich einen Combo hatte es keinen Sinn, mit einem externen Tuner auf USB?
Re: Hauppauge Dual Tuner USB support
Hi Darog69,
My first test is with a Sony PlayTV dual tuner. This does not appear to have worked. I then switched to a Hauppauge WinTV NOVA-TD and it too is not working.
I will take this offline to discuss with Michael and come back when there is more to say.

Ian.

Re: Hauppauge Dual Tuner USB support
Ich werde es trotzdem auf dem Pulse 4K Combo ausprobieren.
Edit:Es hat auch Puls 4K und erkennt den USB-Tuner nicht.

Hi Darog69,
In all my testing the DVB-T dual tuners all work fully on a cold boot. They continue to work on a GUI Restart. They all fail on a Reboot. They don't come back online until the receiver and the tuners are cold started.
Regards,
Ian.

Re: Hauppauge Dual Tuner USB support
@IanSav At my place, only Xbox DVB-T2 and DVB-S TERRATEC Cinergy S2 Stick HD was able to run, but in Xbox there is a problem with SNR and AGC signal bars.
Re: Hauppauge Dual Tuner USB support
Hi Darog69,
I have not worried about the strength or quality values. For the moment I am focused on the tuners becoming reliably available. I remember hearing about cases with some tuners that they never report appropriate strength and/or quality values. This doesn't appear to affect the actual quality of their reception.

Ian.

Re: Hauppauge Dual Tuner USB support
It would be good if all the teams from different images shared their experiences on getting the best possible drivers. I can say that it looks best in the OpenSPA image.
Re: Hauppauge Dual Tuner USB support
Es wäre schön, wenn sie funktionieren würden. Mein GB QUAD 4k erkennt Xbox, sucht aber nicht nach Kanälen
Re: Hauppauge Dual Tuner USB support
Hi All,
I believe that @Captain is the authority on drivers. It is my understanding that all images use the same drivers as they are produced at the direction of the manufacturers.
If there are differences in drivers then I would be all for the identification of the best drivers available so we can get stability and uniformity for all receivers.
In my understanding the issue relates to the fact that when the card cold starts the tuner is in a cold state and the kernel happily loads the firmware into the tuner and starts it. When the box reboots the tuner it is in a warm state and the kernel tries to feed in the firmware but gets an out of memory error because the firmware is already loaded. Instead of starting the tuner the code just gives up. If anyone has the knowledge and/or skill to address this issue then I think we could all benefit.

Ian.

Re: Hauppauge Dual Tuner USB support
@IanSav you are a moderator, maybe you would set up a section for USB external tuners, everything would be in one place.
Re: Hauppauge Dual Tuner USB support
Hi Darog69,
I am only really active in the Beyonwiz area of the forum. Why would you like a separate topic? I think that this thread is okay to use for USB DVB issues as they affect many boxes, not just the Beyonwiz hardware. I have already confirmed the same issues on Zgemma and PULSe receivers. Interestingly, the GigaBlue and VU+ boxes do not seem to have the issue.
I am trying to get more eyes on this issue in the hope that USB tuner performance can be improved for everyone.
Regards,
Ian.

Re: Hauppauge Dual Tuner USB support
Unfortunately, but the problem also affects GigaBlue and VU+, I myself tested on VuDuo4k, and colleague @major742 on Giga Blue Quad and Trio
Re: Hauppauge Dual Tuner USB support
Ja, ich bestätige, GB QUAD 4k Atv 7.5.1 hat WinTV-HVR-935 HD geprüft, es fehlt in den Kopfeinstellungen. XBOX erkennbar, findet aber keine Kanäle
Re: Hauppauge Dual Tuner USB support
Well I think I've managed to test version h7 (not 100% sure) but the version shows...Captain hat geschrieben: ↑10 Jan 2025 19:05 here h7 test Image with fixed hauppauge dualHD drivers (include)
https://we.tl/t-sFVcIrmorV
Enigma2 version: 7.5.1
Enigma2 revision: 33960+cce8a6a
My Hauppauge Dual Tuner USB is still showing as only Tuner C (as shown in the first post).
Regards Gary
Re: Hauppauge Dual Tuner USB support
Hi Gary,
Did you try a full cold start? That is power off the receiver and the tuner and then start both fresh? That has been working consistently for me.
Regards,
Ian.

Re: Hauppauge Dual Tuner USB support
Hi Darog69 and major7421,
Your reports are very interesting. I only have a GigaBlue UHD UE 4K and a friend has a VU+ DUO 2 and they both worked well with the Hauppauge and Sony tuners.
I wonder is there are different chipsets involved in the other models of GigaBlue and VU+?
Regards,
Ian.
