Add Minor User-Generated Changes to OATV on Beyonwiz V2

Hi Ian,

I am finalizing the setup on a Beyonwiz V2.

You wrote previously ..

...
What I am finding is that using the default OpenATV Samba configuration the setting of the "workgroup" in "/etc/samba/distro/smb-global.conf" is NOT being overridden by the "workgroup" setting in "/etc/samba/smb-user.conf". If I correct the "workgroup" in the global file then everything appears to be working as expected.
...
Can you give a full example of the "smb-user.conf" file required. Also with regard to a previous post about changing the left arrow and right arrow keys to do jumps during playback:
IanSav hat geschrieben: 03 Jun 2024 20:59 Hi Naigy,

...
I haven't looked at the implications of your changes so there may be hidden dangers. Please note that pressing the ARROW buttons on the Beyonwiz switched to timeshift mode, where appropriate, and then did the jump. This will not happen on openATV.

You can save these changes to keymap.xml by creating a subset of the keymap file that only contains the section you changed and putting the file into /etc/enigma2. This file will NOT be overwritten during an upgrade and any data in this file will replace the data in the system version of the file.
...

Regards,
Ian.
Can you give an example of the subset of the keymap.xml file that is required to be placed into /etc/enigma2 directory.
I have tried to do these two things but without success.

Regards,
Tony

Hi Tony,

I have attached some sample files that I am testing on my box. I am not a samba expert but I have asked team members to review this suggestion to see if the OpenATV system can be improved.

As for trying out your own keymap changes, all you need to do is copy the keymap file in /usr/share/enigma2/keymap.xml to /usr/share/enigma2/keymap_usermod.xml and then copy the block you want to change into the new file and edit it to try out the changes you want to make. I still suggest you tread carefully as many changes can and will have unexpected results. I have attached a sample for your consideration.

Regards,
Ian.

Hi Ian,

Thanks very much for your help. I will tread carefully with any change i make.
The wiz V2 running OpenATV is getting a good workout as the main unit here. The skip backwards and forwards is much faster now. A Hauppauge dual HD tuner is plugged in to give 4 tuners. There is no problem recording from all four at once. The V2 had been replaced by a T4 as it did not operate as smoothly the T4. A bit more testing and it should be back as the main unit.

Regards,
Tony.

Hi Ian,

Tried this method of adding changes. It did not work. Reading through the forum this is described as being read after keymap.xml. This was tried on both on the T2 and V2. Modifying the keymap.xml file does work until updates return it to original. For now will just use Filezilla to reload the modified file as required.

Trying various ideas on the T2 it became somewhat unhinged! Using Restore System Settings quickly returned it to normal operation.

Tony

Hi Tony,

I can assure you that if the file is correct and put in the place I nominated then the key maps can be overridden.

Do you ant me to check your user defined keymap file?

Ian.

Hi Tony,

There is an omission in your file. Please add the attribute " load="replace" " into your "keymap" tag. That is:

Code: Alles auswählen

<keymap load="replace">
You also need to copy the whole section, not just the buttons you want to change.

Ian.

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the fast answer. I will give it a go tomorrow. I now see I didn't read your original post details fully.
Now running the V2 (on OATV) as the main unit, to see how things go.

Tony

The fileplace is right, but to become updatesave, it must get the name "keymap.usr" in oATV

Hi Ralph,

The name I provided was direct from @jbleyel who refactored that code not so long ago.

Ian.

Ah OK. Then it's not understandable, why an edited original file works, and the same edit in the new nomenklature giben does not bring the same result.
Does the user still have to switch the keymap definition, or should it work just when new file provided?
If it should work just wth providded file, then the transfer to the box is essential.
FTP tesults in rights 0644, what is correct for configs in Linux was it copied via file explorer in Windows, the result is bad for such purposes, as I saw always rights set to 0744 set with CIFS / Samba copies. NFS shares act another way additional.
But the correct 0644 is essential for those types to work.
I changed also all my share definitions long time ago, to get it right for CIFS. You find it in my network HowTos somewhere described - maybe in the share definitions of additional drives to release.
I'm at the beach till 22.9., otherwise I had provided links.

Hi Ralf,

@jbleyel refactored the code so that users no longer have to copy the whole keymap.xml into their new XML file. The key map files are now loaded and merged into memory much like the skin files are loaded and merged. I don't think the access rights matter as this is simply a data file and not an executable.

Ian.

Hi Ian,
Copied the infobarseekactions and infobarseekactionsPTS sections with the Left,Right key actions modified. Then added the <keymap load = "replace" > and </keymap> and titled it keymap_usermod.xml.
This did not work(also shut down and restarted the T2 at any change).

Also noted that same info in file name keymap.usr is recognised in remote control button settings and loaded on start-up. However the jump/skip action does not occur on media playback.

It takes so long to try various ideas that I will run with the modified keymap.xml unless something new turns up. Searching for information is difficult due to a lack of help files and examples. However will stick with oATV.
Certainly I cannot get the skip/jump action to occur using an auxiliary file on the Beyonwiz T2.

Tony.

Hi Tony,

Are you sure you don't want to give the number button skips a try?

Hi Ian,

Use of number buttons is difficult. My HiFi cabinet is run by a Harmony Ultimate handset so the number buttons are transient, being on a touch screen. The Harmony is still going well despite fading support. It was purchased at the Dick Smith closing down sale!

Out of interest, what are the skip values allocated to the 1,4,7 / 3,5,9 buttons?

I updated (Setup > Playback, Recording & Time Shift > Playback Settings) mine to:
1,3 - 15 secs
4,6 - 60 secs
7,9 - 180 secs

I forget what the defaults were.

Thx ... yes I was referring to the defaults. Haven't taken the oATV leap yet and mistakenly thought that skips weren't customisable via the GUI.

Hi Everyone,

In case you are interested, it is easy to show the default values for *any* settings by going to MENU > Setup > Usage & GUI > OSD Settings and change the value of "Show setup default value" to a setting of your choice.

Regards,
Ian.
