WizT2 crashes on clicking on Display Settings
I have triggered several crashes on a T2 by selecting Display Settings in the Setup menu. The attached files were output to the logs directory.

Tony.

Re: WizT2 crashes on clicking on Display Settings
How are you getting there? And what firmware version are you running?
In my T2, running OpenATV 20240819 with updates, the Setup menu doesn't have a Display Settings option that I can see. There is Video - that works for me.
Coming in via OpenWebif, there isn't a Setup option, but there is Settings that has Display Settings - that also works for me.

Hi Tony,
Your crash report has been noted. I am deep in another issue at the moment so I have asked if another developer can assist. If not , I will try to get on to this in a few days.
Regards,
Ian.

Still finding my way around the interfaces here!

Re: WizT2 crashes on clicking on Display Settings
Hi Guys,
I have to admit that I have never seen a T2 Beyonwiz. I have just spent a bit of time Googling to find an image of a powered on T2 front panel but can not find one. Can someone please post a photograph of their T2 in a powered on state. Alternatively, can you please describe what indicators and types of display are actually on a T2.
I suspect that the build configuration of the T2 assumes a front panel display that the actual device may not have. While OpenATV have been building firmware for all the Beyonwiz models I don't think we have had much feedback on those builds. Helping us to know the T2 will help us to fix the crash.

Ian.

Re: WizT2 crashes on clicking on Display Settings
Hi Ian
Short answer: No front panel.
5 buttons, left to right
Power (led behind the printed symbol - always red unless rear power off - when nothing)
<
>
(down arrow)
(up arrow)
RHS opens for a USB port and 2 blanks that aren't used (- satellite card slots in another life?)

Re: WizT2 crashes on clicking on Display Settings
Hi Bill,
Thank you for confirming the configuration. The build system will be adjusted to resolve the issue.

Re: WizT2 crashes on clicking on Display Settings
Hi Ian,
The indicator led is bright red when in shutdown and (slightly) dimmer when the T2 is on. I have a Realtek RTL2832U DVB-T TV Tuner dongle in the USB socket on the rear of the unit. There is already a suitable OATV driver that can be loaded. Attached is a photo of the rear panel.

Re: WizT2 crashes on clicking on Display Settings
Hi Guys,
The build system has been updated to correct the fact that the T2 does not have a VFD front panel. The crash should be resolved in the next firmware update.

Just did an update; Confirming that the T2 Display crash has been fixed.
Now for some other things I've discovered!

Re: WizT2 crashes on clicking on Display Settings
Hi Bill,
Fire away! If it is broken it will be fixed (to the best of our abilities).
Out of interest, overall, how are you finding OpenATV compared to the old Beyonwiz firmware? Do you find it familiar enough to find your way around?
Regards,
Ian.

Re: WizT2 crashes on clicking on Display Settings
Ian
At the risk of taking this thread WAY off topic...
Day to day it's swings and roundabouts:
Like the fast start from a warm boot.
Dislike the slowness of a cold boot - haven't timed vs BW firmware, but seems slower.
Dislike the steps involved in swapping between local recordings and shows on my NAS boxes. BW much simpler, unless I've missed something. I do like a manual!
As for one time or occasional things:
(Note: I started the actual install the day you started converting to the new forum software so help wasn't available...)
I still don't know how I blundered through attaching the NAS boxes - what seemed logical didn't work most of the time. But would have to do it again to provide more detail.
Likewise setting up favorites: This seemed buggy. I could only add 1channel at a time, I'd then have to exit (saving) each one and starting over to add the next. Considering full scan is 59 channels, of which I only want 22.
Which brings me to the Return button. Doesn't work. But this is the way OpenATV uses the Exit button. I'm used to Return taking you up a level, Exit taking you out all together which I would prefer. Others may be too used to how it now works!
USB tuners. I have 2 to try. Neither work, don't appear in the Tuners list (after adding the approp (?) driver. First is the PlayTV. Light comes on when it's plugged in, but after that... Followed the instructions in the Welcome thread, have that model.
The other is an ancient Hauppauge WinTV-dualHD. I've tried several of the Hauppauge drivers with out joy, but this thing is old, the leds on it don't light up when plugged in, and I have a dim memory of there being a remote for it that may be required, but has gone missing.All-in-all, may be dead anyway.
As a result of all the tries to get the dongles to work... I thing the GUI reboot function is broken. Get the splash screen saying your T2 is rebooting, but after numerous minutes - no reboot. Power cycle is needed.
EDIT: I think the Shutdown is also broken. Hangs on a splash screen saying your T2 is shutting down. Wonder if these are related to the orig problem of this thread - the T2 doesn't have a front panel display?
Full disclosure on the USB tuners: Looks like my V2 has lost it's USB ports - PlayTv doesn't light up its led while it does when plugged into the U4, but doesn't appear as extra tuners.
Final annoyance (for the moment) The forum. When ever I start a fresh browser session the Language is German (top right of screen), even though I am logged in (with English as my language of course). If I close the forum window (but not the browser) but then come back to forum then it's kept the English. There also seems to be a problem if I've done a search for something that lands me in a German thread, when I return, the display is German again.
In summary. The T2 is a spare to my V2 & U4. I can see that OpenATV has potential, but I'm not ready to move it onto my main boxes, and as for my sister's V2 - no.
Bill
ps A question. Unlikely but X265 support in OpenATV on the T2?

Re: WizT2 crashes on clicking on Display Settings
I gave up trying to add favourites through the on-screen menu. Using OpenWebif to do this was so much easier.
Ken.
Re: WizT2 crashes on clicking on Display Settings
Hi Ken,
That is why OpenWebif has a whole section dedicated to bouquet management. It is much easier to do there.
ChannelSelection has been recently refactored to improve and fix the code. You could add a feature request issue to the GitHub repository to look at making bouquet building easier in the UI.

Ian.
