Oh, really! So the problem isn't the device getting confused, it's the power supply? Easy fixed
"Out of interest, you mentioned that you are still undecided if openATV is for you. What are the issues for you? "
No issues, I haven't seen the boxes OS yet... might be good, might not. Thanks

Heh! Just pulled the trigger on the Gigablue UHD Trio 4K PRO Combo, (decent price from Germany) with your suggestions, it should be a big step up from the Wiz V2. Btw, I don't suppose you're familiar with the Giga's Kodi capabilities? It would be nice if it ran with a few less glitches than I had with the Wiz V2, that was the main reason I had to go with an external player. Probably still need it for the heavy hitters, but Kodi on my PVR sounds nice. Thanks
Sorry, I am a Plex person.
I now also use Google TV boxes for my generic media playback needs on the various TV sets. I then bought and use the dream Player for Android TV app to remotely access and manage my openATV box.

Nice!
Thanks for the help mate, much appreciated
Ian, I just took delivery of the "GigaBlue UHD Trio 4K PRO" just wondering how familiar you are with it? Have to say, with a precursory look into the setup, without a serious deep dive, it seems wanting. The biggest issue I'm having, and I hope there is a solution, is that there seems to be no jump forward/backward shortcuts like on the Wiz, where you can set number keys to select a variety of time skips. There appears to be no way to do so on this unit. If you or someone familiar with this unit can set me straight, I'd appreciate it. I downloaded the latest Open ATV 7.3 FW for it. Also seems to be no OverlayHD for this box, unfortunately, but I can live with that, the convenience of quick jumps is a bit of an issue though. Thanks
IanSav hat geschrieben:@Captain has given you the pointer to the OverlayHD skin.
As for the skips, I am unaware of the number skip being missing on any boxes. Can you please confirm that the playback settings seem reasonable:
MENU > Setup > Playback, Recording & Time Shift > Playback Settings
I swear I looked in there yesterday.... Thanks
Btw, I can access the Wiz on my PC to get to the files on the HDD, I'm having trouble accessing the Giga. I can see it in file explorer, I have DHCP on, mount manager user management has a name and password set, but it just keeps giving me the "access denied" popup. Is there something different in the boxes, or, I'm guessing it's me! Hopefully it's a simple fix.
Getting used to all the extra info in setup, but it's gonna take time to fully figure it out.
Just realised that this box does not recognise any other receiver, other than that which is installed. The powered USB I'm using when plugged into the wiz works as expected and I get the extra receiver, no problems, in fact when two external receivers are connected it sees a total of five receivers. The Giga box, even when the receiver is connected to either of the USB ports directly, sees nothing, only the one that it came with. I'm really hoping that there is a setting in the box that will solve this, but I've gone through it a dozen times, reinstalling, changing what few settings I can find and resetting, to no avail. I really hope this is a solvable problem, I don't see why this box would not see the external receivers? I bought it because I had no reason to believe it could not.
Are you using SAMBA / SMB connections to the rest of your network? If so, you may not have the SAMBA software installed on your box. I am running a developer build of openATV and the network area of the code has recently changed. Try going to MENU > Setup > System > Network and check if the Samba Client and Server are installed. (The names I used may be different on your box so please follow the concepts if not the actual menu paths. )
Let us know how you go.

CIFS/Samba is active when the box starts, Windows 11 can see the box, but I'm assuming it's the box that is refusing to accept the username and password (no valid certificate)? Both of which are set in the Gigablue. The Wiz V2 works fine with Windows 11, so I don't think anything needs to be done from that end.
I'm also stressing out about the external USB receiver not working, with only one working the box becomes useless when something is recording. See post above from yesterday. I was really hoping that your suggestion of using a powered USB Hub would be the ticket, it works on the Wiz, but not the Giga.
When you say "receiver" do you mean a USB tuner? If so, you will probably need to install the drivers for that tuner. Do you know which chipset is used by that tuner. Go to MENU > Plugins > GREEN (Install Plugins) > Driver Packages and select the driver to install. Plug in the tuner and then reboot the box. Hopefully your tuner will be found and activated.

Ian, you're a Godsend, I bought the Hauppauge Dual Tuner I use on the Wiz from Beyonwiz when I bought the box, obviously the driver was pre-installed, something I hadn't even considered. You just relieved a lot of stress...
Now, if I can just figure out what is going on with the PC web connection, I'll be very happy. Are there any other protocols that might need tweaking? As usual, your help is very appreciated. Thanks
