Hi Bill,
BillySilly hat geschrieben: 07 Mär 2025 00:06 I have attached the latest Log file in case that is any help. Of course, the previous log files are wiped when reinstalling 7.4. Perhaps that could be suggestion for change to have the log files stored somewhere that is not wiped on each install?
While I examine your logs you may care to visit "MENU > Setup > System > Logs Settings" and change the location of your log files to the hard disk. The default is "/home/root" which is on the flash drive. You may care to use something like "/media/hdd".

Ian.

Hi Bill,

Your logs tell a story of horror! It is difficult to pinpoint a specific issue as there are so many problems being logged. At the moment I am going to speculate that perhaps the power supply for your device may not be working properly or else your flash memory many be compromised/damaged.

I would try checking/repairing/replacing the power supply. If that was the issue then when it is fixed you can then try a flash of 7.5.1. If that works but your settings are screwy then I would use "MENU > Setup > System > Factory Reset" to perform a full factory reset. If that works then you can consider restore your last good backup.

If the flash has failed on your device then you will be up for a replacement device. You may find something on the second hand market here. If you are up for shopping Internationally, there are many new devices you can purchase that will work here.

Regards,
Ian.

Thanks Ian,

I appreciate your time. It is an old machine that I was just using as a test for OpenATV. I will try your suggestions and see how it goes.

Ian, just to clarify, is it advisable to perform a factory reset as a precursor to a backup restore?

NO. Better never ever use factory reset.
It clears the directory /etc/enigma2 with all system and plugin settings. But not the /home space, and - most important - not the installed plugins themselves, and no storage contents of plugin storage datas. That's good so, for it keeps downloaded images, backups and also plugin settings on storage devices. Those systems usually are messed up.

But it it's wise to backup good running settings and also good running images from time to time. And before testing some strange new things.

Thanks Ian,

In the end I gave up on the T2. I tried all of the fixes you suggested and nothing worked, so I suspect that the box has had it. That may have been the reason that it has been sitting in the cupboard. In the end, it was only able to run 7.4 and no later.

I have now installed the latest version of 7.5.1 on a V2 and it is working great. Everything works as expected.

Regarding the number keys being used to jump forward and backward, this doesnt seem to work when watching timeshift to go backwards or forwards. The number keys just call up the relevant station/channel. This there a way to turn off this feature?

I only use channel up/down to change channels.

Hi Bill,

On OpenATV you must press PAUSE to engage time shift mode. Once engaged the number buttons no longer select services but performs the pre-programmed skips. The digits 1, 4, and 7 will skip backwards while 3, 6, and 9 will skip forwards. By default the higher the digit the bigger the jump. Press STOP to exit the time shift mode.

Ian.

Hi Bill

For reasons I can't explain my T2 would only upgrade from 7.4 to 7.5.1 after enabling debug logging.

It did crash at the first reboot, but after a power cycle it came up as 7.5.1.

Yesterday, when checking for update it wanted to download all the language packs again - which I'd disabled in 7.4 following the instructions in another thread, so I canceled that update and then did a manual restore and tried the update again. No language packs.

Thanks Bill,

Tried that with the log enabled. Online updates just hang halfway through. The USB restore seems to load, but gets halfway through the boot process for 7.5.1 and then hangs and has to restart. I suspect there is some bad memory somewhere.

Hi Ian,

Reposted this on the Subtitle Problem page.

I am having a problem with subtitles on recorded programs on the Beyonwiz V2 OpenATV 7.5.1. They start off fine but end up about 20-30 seconds in front of the picture. I have used recordings from different channels to test this out and it is consistent. Live viewing doesnt have a problem. I have tried adjusting the subtitle options but that doesn't fix it.

Regards
Bill
