Re: Attention Australian Beyonwiz Users
Hi Ian
home/root/logs is empty.
Thinking that the power off may have killed the file I tried the flash upgrade again.
There is now a 20250302 version of the firmware, which I attempted to utilize.
Small step forward: several seconds after the dual status bar window appeared, it disappeared - both incomplete, replaced this time with a mostly black screen but with some small white and grey lines - corrupted font???
Whilst the upgrade was still "active" I went looking for the log. As noted nothing in home/root/logs.
I did find messages in var/volatile/log which may have what you are after...
Most recent attempt was from 17:56:10.

Hi BillyBlue,
Please remind me, do you are a pre-release or a production V2?

Ian.

Ian
I am trialing OpenATV on a T2 - with dodgy usb/ethernet rear ports. Internet connection is via usb wireless dongle (front port).
I do have a U4 and a V2 still on BW firmware.

Re: Attention Australian Beyonwiz Users
Hi BillyBlue,
There are two types of Beyonwiz V2. One is known as a pre-production version and the other is the production version. The firmware is DIFFERENT for the two variations. In order to identify the issue I need to know which you have. All generally available OpenATV firmware is designed for the production version of the Beyonwiz V2.
Regards,
Ian.

T2 not V2.
At this stage I will NOT be trying OpenAtv on my V2 nor U4.

Re: Attention Australian Beyonwiz Users
Hi,
I am also trying to install OpenATV on a Beyonwiz T2. The install proceeds as normal, but when the box restarts I get an error and then it goes into a restart loop.
The error screen reads
Your receiver encountered a software problem, and needs to be restarted.
Please seed the logfile /home/root/logs/20250303-004145-enigma2-crash.log to ...
Your receiver will restart in 10 seconds.
Component: Enigma2
... Python path is 'usr/lib/enigma2/python'.
...DVB API version 5, DVB API version minor 12.
...Enigma debug level 3.
...sourcedate 2025-02-23/master 34062+a98c76D.
I am using the latest image for a T2 and the box still works on the old Beyonwiz software.
Any tips on being able to download the Crash Report? I cant access the box if it wont start up.
Regards
Bill

Re: Attention Australian Beyonwiz Users
Hi BillyBlue,
I have to agree with Teddles, that response seems totally unnecessary.
I am working through a number of V2 issues so that model number is stuck in my head.
I have no experience with the T2 model but is should be very close to the T4. Do you have logging enabled? If the box has never booted far enough for you to enable logging then we need to take a different path. Can you log into the T2 via the shell prompt? If so, please try the following commands:
- Log in to the T2.
- Enter the command "init 4". This will stop Enigma2 from starting or running.
- Enter the command "DEBUG_LVL=4; enigma2". This will start the OpenATV with debugging data sent to the screen.
Capture the logging data and post it to this thread.
Regards,
Ian.

Re: Attention Australian Beyonwiz Users
Hi Bill,
Even if OpenATV fails to start you should still have Telnet and FTP access to the device. You can use FTP to fetch the logs to your PC so you can post them here.

Apologies if you took my comment differently to what I intended.
Current status.
T2 is still on from the flash upgrade attempt yesterday. Not restarted.
Doing those commands you requested via Putty comes back with:
home/root/logs is still empty.
messages in var/volatile/log as per the attachment above with the following added:
Any other log locations to look at?
What next?
- Spoon feed please, my mainframe background did not prepare me for this!

The default username is "root". There is no default password, you can set it from the command line or GUI.

Re: Attention Australian Beyonwiz Users
Hi BillyBlue,
For the command "DEBUG_LVL=4; enigma2", is what you posted *all* that you saw? That is completely unexpected. I am expecting that the underlying cause for your issues should be documented later in the logs that should be generated by that command.
Do you have a GUI in the TV when that command was running? If not, try using the "reboot" command to restart the box and see what happens. If there is a GUI available please navigate to MENU > Setup > System > Logs" and set the value "Enable debug log *" to "Enabled". You should also note the path shown in "Logs location" as that is where the logs will be written.
Can I also please have the output of the command "grep crash /etc/enigma2/settings".
Regards,
Ian.

Re: Attention Australian Beyonwiz Users
Hi Ian
Yes, what I posted for the command "DEBUG_LVL=4; enigma2" is all that came back.
No, there wasn't a GUI showing, so have issued a "reboot". This returned the box to normal operation.
Have enabled debug log and rebooted. FTR: 7.4
Output of the command "grep crash /etc/enigma2/settings".
root@beyonwizt2:~# grep crash /etc/enigma2/settings
config.crash.debugLevel=4
config.crash.debugTimeFormat=2
config.crash.lastfulljobtrashtime=1741036598
I'll try the Flash upgrade now, back later.
Later:
The good news: got past the update status bar screens, a reboot with a splash screen with OpenATV 7.5.1 with Fast Restore In Progress across the bottom.
The bad news: Still on that splash screen 15 mins later.
Putty can't connect, nor can Filezilla.
Trying a power off reboot...
OK working.

Hi Ian,
I changed over the hard drive and still had the same issue.
Then I started going back through the previous versions of ATV. 7.4 seems to work fine. Everything loaded as I would expect.
This is an old machine that I had laying around that I will use to get used to ATV. Once I am confident that I have found everything, I will then upgrade my U4 and V2s.

Thanks Ian,
Probably not, but I am stuck on 7.4 for the moment. Tried to update from the ATV system menu, but no updates were found.
I will try again when the next version is released.

Have you tried going to "MENU > Setup > Software Management > Flash Online" then selecting the "7.5.1 Current" entry and selecting the latest build to do an online update?

Re: Attention Australian Beyonwiz Users
Thanks Ian,
Yes I tried that with 7.5 and 7.5.1. Both had the same issue when they rebooted.
Somethin must have changed between 7.4 and 7.5 that only affects the T2.
I have attached the latest Log file in case that is any help. Of course, the previous log files are wiped when reinstalling 7.4. Perhaps that could be suggestion for change to have the log files stored somewhere that is not wiped on each install?
