Attention Australian Beyonwiz Users

Hi StephenH and other interested readers,

OpenATV is very easy to back up so that you can recover it to the state it was in at the time of the backup. Here are my suggested steps:

1. Use "MENU > Setup > Software Management > Backup System Settings" to back up the basic OpenATV settings. This is a good regular practice to keep a copy of settings incase something changes and you want a quick recovery.
2. Use "MENU > Setup > Software Management > Image Backup" to back up up the entire image. This will snapshot all settings, plugins and the operating system to a backup files that can be used to fully restore the system as it was at the time of the backup.

More a "thinking aloud" followup based on my own experience this arvo, but you can then take that backed up image, UnZIP it to a USB stick, and re-flash it just like you would do with standard "raw" firmware files, and everything just magically comes back

Unfortunately, the Beyonwiz firmware got stuck in time and never evolved to take the improvements made available in the other images.

We are trying to migrate a number of features from the Beyonwiz firmware into OpenATV. Hopefully all Beyonwiz users will find OpenATV an improvement on their previous Beyonwiz experiences.

My experiences so far are, for the most part, VERY positive - the annoyances are only minor, and I can see it will only get better as more Beyonwiz refugees jump in and help to move the project forward.

Can you please review the tuning advice in this new forum post (viewtopic.php?t=66835) and confirm that you are still experiencing the LCN issue.

We are working on a fix now that we hope StephenH will be able to confirm shortly. If the fix works for him I hope it will be published for you to test as well.

Can all users having tuning/LCN issues please update to firmware dated 2-Oct-2024 or later and retest a scan with that newer firmware. If you detect any LCN issues please report back. We are hoping that the LCN issues should now be resolved.

If you are running test firmware you can now flash back to the production stream and verify that the issue remains resolved.

Yes, it is Beyonwiz U4.

I installed the diagnostic version of the firmware as instructed in your PM.
I followed the tuner configuration (no changes were needed to the configuration) and scanning advice.

After performing the automatic scan, I can now see LCNs for the ABC (as well as the other services).

And I also tried an automatic scan with Network Scan set to No. This was quicker as it did not try to scan related network channels. All LCNs appeared as expected, including the ABC, but this time only 57 channels were found (73 with Network Scan set to Yes).

Attached are the scan files (the debug log contains both Network Scan = Yes and Network Scan = No scans).

I reverted to 7.4 and ran software updates just now, but the LCN issue was not resolved for ABC channels. But then I noticed the 2-Oct-2024 firmware is not yet available for the U4. I will wait until I see it and will try again. But the LCN issue was definitely fixed for me in the latest preview feed.

I updated just now, and after an automatic scan I still have the missing LCN problem on ABC channels.
I first ran Software Update, but it found only 2 packages, both 'info' packages.
I then did a flash update (openatv-7.4-beyonwizu4-20241003_usb.zip) and ran the automatic scan, but still missing the LCNs on ABC channels.
Is it possible the nightly update (3-Oct-2024) didn't contain all the latest packages?

Thanks for the PM. I'm replying here as I'm unable to include attachments in the PM - it looks like that phpBB feature has not been enabled.

I don't think I mentioned before, but the ABC channels work correctly: I can view the channels, they link to IceTV, I can see them in the EPG and I can set timers for them. The only issue is that under OpenATV 7.4 the LCNs do not display for the ABC channels (in the OpenWebif Bouquet Editor the LCNs show as 0); channels from the other 4 providers show correct LCNs.

Anyway, I applied the preview feed just now and did two scans: the first with Network Scan = Yes, the second with Network Scan = No. Files attached (the debug log contains both scans).

With the preview feed, the LCNs display correctly for the ABC channels.
