[Help] Very, very slow boot!!
[Help] Very, very slow boot!!
Sorry to bother you again but this receiver keeps giving me problems... How is it possible that it takes almost 3 minutes to boot and more than 3 minutes to do a complete reboot?? My old GigaBlue 4k UE boots in just over 30 seconds, a sixth of the time!
I installed OpenATV right out of the box and it gave this problem right away on the first reboot before I configured it and installed some plugins.
Is it just me?
I don't know what to do anymore, I don't want it to be a hardware problem...

Re: [Help] Very, very slow boot!!
I have all 3, gbquad4k, gbue4k and gbuhd4kpro ……and as much as I like these receivers, they are very slow to boot and that includes the gbue4k…. 30 seconds is I think more like a restart. But I would normally see a complete reboot in 3 minutes.
Fortunately, once booted you shouldn,t have to do,it again for a while unless flashing a new image.

Maybe I didn't explain myself well: I mean the normal start from off (not in standby) that happens every time you turn on the decoder. Or when restarting after an update that with OpenATV are almost daily.twolde hat geschrieben: 15 Mär 2025 16:26 I have all 3, gbquad4k, gbue4k and gbuhd4kpro ……and as much as I like these receivers, they are very slow to boot and that includes the gbue4k…. 30 seconds is I think more like a restart. With my old GigaBlue 4k UE it takes 30 seconds and with this brand new Quad PRO it takes over 3 minutes remaining stuck at the first boot screen for 2 and a half minutes.
It can't be normal and I don't know how to fix it.

Re: [Help] Very, very slow boot!!
With the Quad4K Pro, there is only a brief delay when the image is freshly installed, as the eMMC flash is being checked. If it hasn’t been done already, the eMMC flash will be expanded so that the full 16GB can be used. This process will take about 30 seconds, and it happens just once.
For me, with a clean image and no additional addons, the box boots in under 60 seconds, which is typical for a box with an FBC tuner.

Anyway I will do other tests with different images and also using other slots. I don't know what else to do...

Do you have an HDD in the slot? If so, remove it for the next test to check if it's causing any issues.

Re: [Help] Very, very slow boot!!
If you haven't made any major configurations, I would recommend reinstalling everything from scratch using the USB recovery image. This will reformat the eMMC and delete all other images in the additional slots. That way, you can be sure you've tried everything on your end.

and do that without attached HDD to be sure, no old infos are restored. Set the LAN to default DHCP ON and DNS for the router.

Re: [Help] Very, very slow boot!!
This Quad Pro is really driving me crazy!
Now I discovered that if there is a USB stick (even empty) in any USB port of the decoder, then it starts or reboots normally! It takes less than 1 minute.
A WiFi stick is also fine, as long as one USB port is occupied.
I just don't understand...
Is it possible that this only happens to me??

Re: [Help] Very, very slow boot!!
Gut Ding will Weile haben.

Actually, this is the second one I received. They replaced the first one because it arrived dead, it wouldn't even turn on.hartmannsteffen hat geschrieben: 17 Mär 2025 21:57 Ich habe zwei mal die gleiche Box an den Händler zurückgehen lassen. Anyway, regarding the slow boot problem, I tried to put the official image (TeamBLUE) back and the boot with that image went back to normal (but then I went back to OpenATV anyway).
For the rest, however, everything works fine except for the poor sensitivity of the infrared receiver (much better the one on my old UE) and the slowness of the embedded WiFi. Given the price, they could have installed a faster one (in fact now I use a USB WiFi dongle that is twice as fast).

Re: [Help] Very, very slow boot!!

Sure, I wrote it in the messages above.Papi2000 hat geschrieben: 24 Mär 2025 15:39 Ein User im GigaBlue Forum hat durch Versuche herausgefunden, dass die Box schnell startet, wenn man einen USB-Stick in einen der Ports steckt. It doesn't have to be a formatted stick, just any USB port is occupied. In fact, mine boots quickly since I use a USB WiFI dongle
