H8.2H remote tuner

#1

Beitrag von Tobor »

Hello,

I think I could use a bit of guidance as to "how to do it right" because right now I am getting absolutely nowhere...

As to "what do I have", a Zgemma H8.2H with up-to-date OpenATV 7.5.1, no additional plugins beyond what is contained in the image (or mentioned below), USB used for all storage purposes.

I would like to "add a 2nd DVB-T2" tuner to the H8.2H using "remote tuner" and related to this:

My preferred option, using SatIP (I have a working SatIP server) I installed the SatIP client system plugin from feed. However when I try to configure the client, all I get is "no vtuners found"?

2nd option, as I have also a Zgemma H7C in the house, I tried configuring "fallback remote receiver" on the H8.2H. This worked almost as expected i.e. if I start recording using local tuner in the H8.2H, all works fine and I am also able to watch all other channels at the same time. If I disable the local tuners in the H8.2H, I can still watch all channels just fine. However, in neither case am I able to record anything using the remote tuner, I just get "no tuner available"?

As 3rd option I I was thinking about using NAS instead of USB for storage and adding a USB tuner to the H8.2H as I already have one. The tuner in question (Astrometa DVB-T2, original gen 1) was not recognized by the H8.2H. I have not tried adding any drivers & fw manually yet because as per what read on the net I think that to get the Astrometa driver working I need to be on Linux kernel 4.10.x or newer. I assumed this would be fine as the H8.2H tech specs on the web stated that kernel is 4.10 or newer. However "uname -r" on the H8.2H says 4.4.176?

Any thoughts on "what am I doing wrong"?

PS. Quite new to E2 boxes and pretty much all thumbs when it comes to Linux as well so my apologies for any noob mistakes I may have made.

FWIW, figured out that the problem with "fallback remote receiver" & recording was most likely related to "Enable timer conflict resolution" setting. Tried with with both OpenVIX and OpenPLI and with these this option is available in the timer. After selecting "no" I was able to simultaneously record on the H8.2H two different channels, from two different transponders, with no problems.

Having said that, as hard as I try, I can't find this "Enable timer conflict resolution" option/setting anywhere in OpenATV. Can anyone give me a hint where I can find it or is this option perhaps something that is not available in OpenATV?

PS. As to SatIP client, appears that H8.2H does not support vtuners so "not going to work".
