Web TV/brower/plugin? confusion

#1

Beitrag von Zappas »

Hey,
I am very in experienced on posting on this forum, so please excuse me if I am posting in the wrong place.
I wonder if anyone who is very much more knowledgable than me can explain as to how I may be able to use the Web TV facility in the OpenWebif setup in order to playback recordings made on my Satellite box. Using Firefox as a browser and VLC as the media player, absolutely nothing happens when I click on the play button having first chosen a recording to playback. Using Microsoft Edge, the same thing refers you to a wedsite to install a plugin, however when there it is not immediately obvious what to install and I am at a loss to understand what to do next, so if anyone is able to help please help.
Thank you

Translation:
That's a very good question: I'm currently having problems streaming via openWebif, too.
I prefer MPC ('scoop install extras/mpc-hc-fork') to VLC because I work in Windows.
Live TV isn't streamed synchronously in my Home - and I have no idea which network device (server or client) may the Problem.
Therefore, I prefer to share my hardDrive connected to my Dinobot4kTwin via Samba and view the recordings that way.
Would that be a possible solution, or do you absolutely want a streaming solution instead of file sharing?

Thank you for the reply, I would prefer to stream my recordings via a media player, but my prefered player, VLC just will not play via the Web TV setup in OpenWebif, so let us hope someone may have an idea as to what to do. Thanks again

I also prefer using MPC HC in Windows on PCs.
For streaming there is an m3u8 loaded to the PC, that has to be served to MPC HC. In former times that was doen automaticly inc. deletion of that file after closing playback. That's for Windows security purposed not any more possible.
The recordings are available via \\IP_OF_THE_BOX\Harddisk (read & write in teh folder movies) or \\IP_OF_THE_BOX\Movies (read only, filtered movie files) directly playable.

Access is only granted for the User "root" with the own set password in the network setting of the box.

I am afraid I am at a loss to understand what it is that you are saying, I hope I am not coming across as being rude however I am not familiar with MPC HC so I am confused.

Google defect?
Get rid of that VLC, and use a much more actual MPC HC.
And if Google does not help you, I also cannot.
And yes, that topic is no longer easy as fourteen / fivteen years ago.

MPC-HC is not compatible with Windows 11 and neither is it supported any longer so that is out. It will not open m3U8 files in anycase, VXG media player in Chrome does not work either.
It would appear that WebTv in the OpenWebif application is no longer supported and as such does not work, Can it be uninstalled , does anyone have any ideas at all. Thank you.

Please be aware the the link to the so called VXG plugin does not work and any google searge regarding this leads to links that are riddled with viruses and trojans!, you have been warned. I have given up with this and since the WebTv facility on the OpenWebif does not work it should be removed .
