No video with mp4 files
Hi,
Since I updated the 6.4 firmware on my Vu+ UNO 4K SE (running enigma2 and Wooshbuild) a couple of weeks ago, the mp4 files I have in my /media/hdd/movie/ folder play as audio-only. These are files that used to play without issues, and they still play if I stream from my box to another device. I've just flashed my 4K SE with today's OpenATV build and done a clean install of everything, but am still seeing this issue. Are there any codecs that I could install, that might help with this? If not, any tips on how to fix it would be appreciated. Thanks.

MP4 is also only a container format for video and audio with codecs.
Which codecs make trouble?
MediaInfo on the pc gives you exact datas about used codecs.
And yes, newer drivers of VU do have less codec support in the last time...
And keep in mind:
Broadcom BCM7xxx Chipset does NOT pllay video contents 4K with h264 - no.
That only can be done by the HiSi Boxes.

Thanks for the tips. Here's the relevant info from MediaInfo:
Is there anything there that stands out?

There is H264 used (aka AVC3). If the resolution (you see it further in MediaInfo in the video block) exeeds 1080p (1920x1080), then NO box with BCM7xxx chipsetis able to play that video. Only sound is presented.
Only boxes with actual HiSi chipsets can play also H264 4K videos.
It's a 1280x720 video, so I don't think the resolution is the issue. I have a 64MB 704x396 version of the same clip and, if I upload that to Repair MP4, fix corrupted MP4, MOV, M4V, 3GP videos - Online Converter and repair it, the resulting file plays on my box without problems. However, the higher res file is well over the 200MB size limit for that site.
Although this suggests that the mp4 files are somehow corrupted or incompatible, the point is that I have lots of them, and all of them used to play perfectly on my box until a recent firmware update. If the cause of this is a retired codec, is there any way I can install it myself?

You are not missing a codec, but more tolerant mediaframework. The mediaframework in the box normally is gstreamer-based in oATV. You might test HDF, which has afaik ffmpeg-based mediaframework.
If that helps, then one could try to buckle the mediaframework in oATV via the serviceapp2, which can change the used mediaframework to ffmpeg and exteplayer3. By doing that, there will be problems with, and lack of support for the MediaPortal.

Thanks for the tip! I was able to play some, but not all, of those files with ExtEplayer3, so that's progress. I don't use MediaPortal so may as well switch the media framework to ffmpeg. How do I do that?
