Installing newest OpenATV on Zgemma cause stuck on bot logo
So yesterday i installed newest update - from the menu ( 20200921 ) on my Zgemma H9 2S and it stuck on bot logo (whole screen just blink), today i downloaded whole image manualy ( openatv-6.4-zgemmah92s-20200921_usb.zip ) and try install it from usb: same result, zgemma stuck on bot logo. So guys do not install newest update or you brick your zgemma. After i installed version from 20200920, everything back to normal. So please fix this issue.

Guys, if you don't provide more info about booting troubles with your device, no one will do anything about it.
You must provide more info (debug log).
Does the Shell connection (PUTTY app via the SSH or Telnet protocols) work ?
If so, connect to the set top box via PUTTY and try this:
- wait 2 minutes and then send the created LOG file to this discussion
- you can stop the Enigma running in this way using the keyboard shortcut CTRL + C
- use the "init 3" command to start Enigma normally
///////////////// EDIT :
Oh, I get it. At the forum thread mentioned above, the first post, translation into English:
Unfortunately, the About.py source code crept in some inadvertence - it ends as error, an endless Enigma2 boot-loop. All you have to do is download the About.py source code file for OpenATV from the internet and place it via an FTP connection in the appropriate folder.
About.py file on github server, for openATV 6.4: https://github.com/openatv/enigma2/raw/6.4/lib/python/Components/About.py
About.py file on github server, for openATV 6.3: https://github.com/openatv/enigma2/raw/6.3/lib/python/Components/About.py
FTP directory in your set-top box: /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Components
After overwriting the file, let Enigma restart.
Then reconnect via FTP and delete the About.py source code file !
Leave the About.pyo file there only !

But how can I access the appropriate folders if the boot is stuck on the OpenATV 6.3 logo, it wont connect via OpenWebif, and therefore I cant get the IP details to enter into the FTP Host etc. Is there a way just to re flash an image? Why cant TV be simple?

Find the IP address in the WebGUI configuration for your WiFi-router, as @Papi2000 wrote.
Or find the DNS name of your device somewhere on the internet. If your WiFi-router is not a cheap scumbag, DNS names should work as well as IP addresses on your local network. For example:
Formuler F4-Turbo : formuler4turbo
Formuler F3 : formuler3
Vu+ Solo SE V2 : vusolose
I don't know other device names, but you can find them via Google . Then you will use the DNS name of the set-top box, instead of the IP address (provided that there is only one of these set-top boxes in your LAN).

MoneyG hat geschrieben:I have managed to connect to the box vis PuTTY but now it is asking for Login as: and Password, I do not have these credentials. Is there a way to bypass this?
The password may to be changed / deleted via the GUI MENU (Settings -> System -> Network -> Password). If you have never set a password in OpenATV before, first connect via Telnet protocol and then change the password with the command:
Code: Alles auswählen
passwd
Subsequently, it will be possible to connect also via SSH protocol and via FTP connection. The login is "root" and the password is as you set it.
MoneyG hat geschrieben:Which is the appropriate file? to put the About.py file
Please, read the whole discussion again.
MoneyG hat geschrieben:There is no About.py file to overwrite in the directory /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Components. should I just place the file in that directory even if there is not a About.py file?
Yes, of course, but please read the whole discussion again. The ".py" file contains a SOURCE CODE. After Enigma2 restart will this source code compiled to ".pyo" python file. So, after Enigma2 restarts it is to neccessary delete this ".py" source file.
BTW, these About.py/.pyo file issues should be resolved by updating OpenATV. So simply update your OpenATV.
Stuck on boot logo
After installing update through update plugin it got stuck on logo again!!

Um, I only see a problem with SKIN there. Do you use the original MetrixHD SKIN or your own SKIN ?
Try to check for non-existent files in the "/usr/share/enigma2/MetrixHD" folder (for example via FTP connection) pointed to by the debug log.
Reply.

After update it came up with msg resetting to defaul matrix skin and error came up. I didnt used any skin just modified some bits and bobs.
Copying Matrix folder from backup from my pc didnt solved problem so i have reflashed software from my backup file. Ran update again. No issues this time.
