The update can be done from the system level. Disconnect the antenna cable, insert the formatted USB flash drive into the socket on the back of the device.
1) press the Menu key
2) settings
3) software management
4) online software upload
5) 6.4 release

Hello. The Aliexpress seller, as promised, sent the recovery software.
My receiver has recovered successfully.
Instructions:
1_Download the .rar file from the link.
2_Extract the e2 folder from the .rar archive.
3_Format usb drive to fat32.
4_Enter the e2 folder into the root of the usb drive (you do not need to change the file names).
5_Disconnect the receiver from the electricity.
6_Insert the usb drive into the rear usb port of the receiver.
7_Turn on the receiver and immediately press the green button on the remote
The firmware process is visible on the TV screen.
Try different usb drives by size and manufacturer.
My receiver has identified only one usb drive out of three!
The folder in the usb drive should look like this ↓

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. I tried this 3 months back when i originally crashed my Axas, and tried to search for help, with NO luck. Previously i was able to get a detected USB drive, but the source was never in an e2 folder... That was never part of any directions i found on the internet.
You are right thou, darn thing is VERY sensitive. I tried 4 different flash drives before i found one that was detected by the Axas. I would like to mention that if you don't have a detectable USB drive, you will NEVER see the 'Updt' : Update text on the Axas front screen. So, if you can't get the Update on the frong panel, try another USB flash drive. You can also get into 'Updt' mode by pressing and holding down the GREEN key on your remote when you power it on. I will also add that you don't have to copy the files to the flash drive to see the 'updt' message. This allowed me to test a bunch of flash drives quickly to see which one was detectable. No UpDt message, not detectable - Once i found one, then i copied the files i needed to it, which then allowed the update to actually work. Turns out the USB flash drive that worked was some cheap one i got from buying the pictures from a 3 hour White Water Rafting adventure. I copied the pictures/videos off of it to another USB drive, and then labelled this flash drive to be used specifically for the AXAS so that i won't go through this again should i get a loop crash like i had.
After 3 months of sitting on my speaker, i have brought life back to the Axas His Twin Plus satellite receiver...
Ps. I believe 3 months back, i was able to get it to detect a non detectable flash drive by using gParted (A bootable flash drive that boots my laptop into gParted) gParted allowed me to size down the partition to only 1 gig and then i formated a linux format of ext2/3 and was able to get the Axas to detect it. But, like i mentioned before, my files were not placed in a e2 folder hence why the update never worked. This time i was able to find a flash drive that worked without having to go through the gParted route. But, for those that might run out of flash drives to try, hopefully this might help you.
Thanks Again!!!

I thought to flash new image was holding the power button on the receiver before connecting the power, once the front display shows Load then you release the power button and wait for it to finish flashing.........my Axas did update via network to OpenATV 7, it needs an USB drive connected to the rear of the receiver so it can download the image then unzip and flash all by it self.......

Follow the steps given with the green button, that is how I recovered my Axas, working perfectly with openatv 7.0, the 7.1 gave me few problems and blue screen crash info after pressing Menu, I recommend 7.0 with Axas HIS Twin Plus.....
