I've had the same problem for a while now, 4:3 films or channels are displayed in 16:9, if I switch the settings from letterbox to pal & scan and then back to letterbox it works again with 4:3, but when I restart it goes away again.

The decoder does not switch between 16: 9 and 4: 3 letterbox format. I have tried the various solutions found here on the forum (aspectratioswitch extension and other scripts found on the forum), but none of the solutions work.

I know there are plugins like 'Aspect Ratio Switch', 'Letterbox' or the one in MultiQuickbutton, even though they don't work 100% on all channels.
But these are all for 'general' setting and none of them has the ability to store settings for individual channels.

Aspect ratio works fine in the H9 boxes. I had never seen an issues and test it today with some media again. I know only for stalker plugin that some months ago a fix is made.

You need to check follow command to see if aspect ratio really switch with your enigma2 plugin:
cat /proc/stb/video/policy2 ...

Aspect Ratio Switch will bei mir irgendwie nicht, er schreibt zwar Format geändert auf 16:9, 16:9 immer usw... aber es ändert nichts am Bild.
Das einzige was funktioniert ist "SetMovieHeight", was ein altes Plugin ist und auch nicht mehr im Feed...

... Alternative gibt es ja auch noch das Plugin Aspect Ratio Switch (in feed unter Systemplugins) womit man schnell per Hotkey z.b Radio Taste Lang gedrückt hält und er den das Format ändert.

... Geht nicht! Ich will mit Grün Lang, Aspect Ratio Switch oder Letterbox Zoom bei Kinofilmen mit breiten schwarzen Balken immer auf PanScan umschalten können! Und PanScan funktionert im OpenATV 5.3 nur wenn man das jedesmal im Hauptmenü umstellt und das ist halt schon etwas umständlich!

Das Plugin auf dem Feed gibt zwar Meldungen aus, ändert aber die Modi nicht.
Es funktioniert im Live-Betrieb und z.B. auch in EMC.
Manchmal muß man erst die Werte im A/V-Setup ändern, ich habe da z.B. 2x Pan&Scan drinstehen.

Funktioniert bei dieser Box die Formatumschaltung z.B. mit VCS (Videoclipping Setup) beim Live-TV und in EMC mit der grünen Taste bei HD-Material?
Ich möchte z.B. immer 4:3 Sendungen die in 16:9 (mit schwarzen Balken seitlich) gesendet werden stretchen.
Bei manchen Boxen geht das.

... Habe auch verschiedene Plugins ausprobiert (Aspect Ratio Switch, Letterbox, Autoresolution und Automatische Auflösung unter Grundeinstellungen) hilft alles nichts.
