    Open ATV 4 - MKV - NFS/NAS - Problem!

    Hello,
I recently purchased this box and installed the Open ATV 4.0. Works great as satellite receptor and everything we need and more for a receiver that costs little more than 100 Eur
Good image quality, fast and stable.
Local recordings, even in HD run very well, however I am having trouble running MKV files from a NAS Server (Synology DS212) connected as NFS and it works very well with the VU Uno I have. It happen it is very slow in the beginning of the movie and has some freezes and in some ones it stops right at the beginning of the file.
Anyone know of the existence of difficulties in running MKVs in opticum AX Odin?
    thank you

Have you tryed to activate a swap of about 64 to 128MB on an ext3 formatted USB-Device plugged and mounted to /media/usb?
That might help, when the box is running out of reccorces while playing strange formats not compatible to the dvb-standards.
Connection to your box ist via LAN-Cable or WLan-Network?

    Thanks for your reply!
My box is connected Via Lan-Cable and I did not try USB-device as NAS is in another division.
Regarding "activate a swap of about 64 to 128MV" I am missed, what is this?
    Regards,

I mistyped it above. I corrected it allready, and meant: Activating a Swapfile on your Box may help.

Did u check the connection speed of your odin to the nas?

i know that the odin is connecting to some devices like my fritz box with 10 instead of 100 mbit so i had to put a switch between. that solved my problems

Thanks B0ombasti! That's may be the problem as I can see saved files from my VU (although not MKV) with no rpblem and passes through a switch? But how do I "check the connection speed of your odin to the Nas" ? And why this might happen?

It might be some incompatibility problem - dunno.

Try to copy some data from your odin to the nas using a tool like total commander that shows u the speed while copying.
