ASIX AX88178A driver on DM7020HD and OpenATV 6.1

    Hello,

I'm using a Dreambox DM7020HD with OpenATV 6.1 and would like to use an USB ethernet adapter as LAN2 on it.
It uses the AX88178A chipset from ASIX.
I found the driver in the feed of OpenATV 6.1, however, when installing the driver and testing the netwerk, I get an error for nameserver which should be the IP-address of the router I guess.
All other tests are okay, but I cannot connect to the internet.
    Can someone help me out?

    Thank you!

If the nameserver is not reported, then you have no nameserver in your network. Normally you can ether connect to the internet through the gateway, which was set right.
How do you think, you cannot connect to the internet with your box?
Do you have DHCP in all devices activated?
Did you connect your box with a lan-cable? Did you restart the router, and then the box after switching over to wifi? Otherwise, your router remembered the name and ip from the lan. Delete the old entry in the router, and restart the systems.

When you have your wifi-stick enabled, which wifi-status do you reach (power/ quality)?

And don't forget to explicitly deactivate the internal LAN-Port in the Box. If had contacted your router with the internal lan activated, the the router remembered for your box the name and ip. When you contact your router with this box with the same name, but other MAC from other lan-equipment, some routers colabs, or do other crap. See, which is right MAC for the new adapter in the router. Delete the other ip-entry in the router. shutdown your box, restart the router, start the box, enter the lan-settings (DHCP should be activated), save, and the test should work.

Okay, thanks, I will keep this in mind.

To be sure: I don't need these plugins to be installed as well? kernel-module-usbnet, kernel-usb-asix and kernel-module-cdc-ether besides ax178a/179 driver from the openATV feed?

They should have been installed automatically as dependencies, if they are neccessary.

Hi, I tried your suggestions, but without luck.
However, I found out when connecting directly to my Fritz!Box it does work, but when using a Fritz!WLAN Repeater with Gigabit connection, it doesn't come up with nameserver but the router does give an IP-address.
With WIFI stick also everything is fine.
What could be the cause why it doesn't work on my Fritz!WLAN Repeater with Gigabit connection?
When using the internal LAN of the DM7020HD on the repeater it does work. Very strange...

Hmmm, it seems I have internet and the test is successfull (it takes 30 seconds to get confirmed for nameserver however, with internal LAN less than 2 seconds).
Do I have to disable miniDLNA and CIFS/Samba first when changing LAN? Now it tries to update in the background, but the update never completes. And I cannot discover them in my network.
I also ordered a stick with AX88179 chipset backwards compatible with USB 2.0. Maybe that one acts differently.
    Any suggestions?

Could someone please test if he can get it work in this combination:

Dreambox 7020HD with ASIX AX88178A or AX88179 USB adapter in combination with Fritz!WLAN Repeater 1750E. (directly to Fritz!Box 3490 works). Both router and repeater are in the same network ofcourse.

This is to improve the internal 100 Mbit LAN speed to 480 Mbit LAN (maximum speed USB 2.0).

    Thanks!
