Question Error E2 can't be stopped! Abort flashing (5.1 Gigablue Quad Plus 10.08.2015)

    Dear members:

When flashing OpenATV 5.1 from local HDD in my Gigablue Quad Plus (from OpenATV 4.2) I get the following error message:

"Error E2 can't be stopped! Abort flashing"

Then, enigma2 seems to be restarted and flashing aborted.

    I tried many things:
    • Stop OpenVPN (I also have unistalled it). OpenVPN produced a different error mounting flash when flashing previous version (http://www.opena.tv/openatv-4-2-ruec...html#post73137).
    • No Cron jobs running (I deleted old workaround for dropping memory when playback was freezing when 4.2 was young).
    • I have deleted all autotimers.
    • I have closed all telnet and ftp sessions.
    • As suggested in the OpenATV 5.1 main thread, I switched to 1080i and default skin before flashing.
    • Bootloader was update last year before flashing OpenATV 4.2

I have searched the error message in google and got the code of ofgwrite (https://github.com/oe-alliance/ofgwr...ter/ofgwrite.c). Maybe one of my processes can not be killed or take too long to do it.

I attach the output of ps -ef in my box just before trying to flash.

    Code:

    You can try to kill
    djmount and gbipbox_server
before flashing. If that don't work please post output of
    lsof
    command.

    Hi:

Thanks very much for your help. I killed djmount and gpibox_server. After trying to flash, I got same error message again. Here you can find the ouput of ps -ef and lsof commands just before flashing.

    ps -ef

    Hi:

HDD is an internal storage. I am trying to flash the new image from /media/hdd/images. No problems before with the internal disk when operating or flashing previous images. I can not remember if I flashed 4.2 last year online or from internal disk. Now I can not do an online update from 4.2 to 5.1, due to software manager only shows the possibility to update 4.2 or to 5.0, not 5.1.

    Mount info shows:

    /dev/sda1 on /media/hdd type ext 4 (rw,relatime)

    Regards.

Download the new image archiv with your PC, and copy it unchanged via ftp (WinSCP / Filezilla) or Explorer to /media/hdd/images.
Via remote control go to flash online --> local, navigate to the imagefile, choose Flash.
Is there an USB-Stick formatted in NTFS attached to the box, when you tried to flash?

    Hi:

I am following exactly this flashing procedure as you detailed. Thanks.

This is the output of mount command:

    Code:
    root@gbquadplus:~# mount
rootfs on / type rootfs (rw)
    ubi0:rootfs on / type ubifs (rw,relatime)
devtmpfs on /dev type devtmpfs (rw,relatime,size=286116k,nr_inodes=71529,mode=755)
proc on /proc type proc (rw,relatime)
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw,relatime)
tmpfs on /media type tmpfs (rw,relatime,size=64k)
tmpfs on /var/volatile type tmpfs (rw,relatime)
    /dev/sda1 on /media/hdd type ext4 (rw,relatime)
    /dev/sdb1 on /media/usb type fuseblk (rw,relatime,user_id=0,group_id=0,allow_other,blksize=4096)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,relatime,gid=5,mode=620)
    /etc/auto.network on /media/autofs type autofs (rw,relatime,fd=6,pgrp=605,timeout=5,minproto=5,maxproto=5,indirect)
    And for blikid command:

    Code:
    root@gbquadplus:~# blkid
    /dev/sda1: UUID="77e3983b-c41f-43f7-b8a0-9f68890c89c8" TYPE="ext4" PARTLABEL="primary" PARTUUID="d21614db-5318-4ecb-abcf-3729c6ccb4f5"
    /dev/sdb1: LABEL="KINGSTON" UUID="2432ED6032ED3786" TYPE="ntfs"
    /dev/ubi0_0: UUID="c9e482c9-f3b9-4580-8063-e12307ad75aa" TYPE="ubifs"

So there is USB-Stick formatted attached to the box, and is NTFS, when flashing. Can I dettach it when flashing (only picons, backups and EPG is stored there)?

    Regards.

    That's an impurity for Linux/E2.
So, if you only use the stick for picons, timeshift, backups and EPG, its better be formatted by the box in ext4 (performance, compatibility). Before doing that, copy the data otherwhere, since the stick will be cleaned.
    But thanks for the hint.

OK. I have a backup of the USB data. Can I do format to ext 4 via Setup --> System --> Storage devices --> Convert filesystem ext3 to ext 4 ? Is there any more recommended way to do it?

    Thanks for your help.
