Question IPTV Player - with ffmpeg > External Player 3 now possible?!? Test, please...

    Let's test, please!

EDIT: HOW TO GET FFMPEG INTO OPENATV FOR SH4 (STi 7111/7162) IS IN POST NO. 3 BELOW!!!!!!

On my insistence, Samsamsam (the author of IPTV PLayer) has done the following:

I compile ffmpeg libs based on OpenATV 5 for SH4 most probably this is most close image to your PB, so try to install in following way:

    Code:
    cd /tmp
    wget http://iptvplayer.pl/openatv5_sh4_ffmpeg_2.7.1.tar.gz
    tar -C / -xvf ffmpeg_2.6.2.tar.gz

    sync
    reboot
IPTVPlayer after reset should be able to detect ffmpeg and instal external exteplayer3.

If not, please check what is returned by cmd:

    Code:
    ffmpeg --version
    and pass output here.
This is not correct 100% but in a post below you will get it all done properly...

This way we get a considerably better performance from the box, with its limited memory, in terms of streaming (from the net, like FilmOn > UK Live TV > BBC etc.) and playback from NAS, PCs etc. in home network.

Why? Smaller footprint of ffmpeg over Gstreamer and Gstreamer 1.xx not being properly patched for SH4 yet.

I tested it with AR-P eplayer3 version and it worked, as opposed to Gstreamer based images...

I will try but if I fail (going away tomorrow) it would be good to get somebody to test it and report back at OpenPLi forum, Third Party Development sub-section!

    Thanx!

Sorry, silly me, I better give you the essential info, also... Here is something I prepared earlier, on a few forums...

I tested it on Ferrari 500 HD with PBNIGMA 3.01 by Delfi, on an earlier 70.00.05.00 version. I had to find the missing Python 2.7 textwrap file, first. Then, I upgraded the plugin. See the attached file for that, to be placed here: /usr/lib/python2.7 and update!

What do you get by this? Well,

    1) IPTV streaming (this is a primarily Polish users oriented plugin - but UK [like FilmOn >Live UK TV > BBC, ITV, Ch4 etc.], as well as Germany and other countries are also served by it) but also

    2) playback in home network (from NAS or PC etc.)!

It even has subtitle player thrown in, for good measure...

The results - overall speaking - are phenomenal! I am tempted to call this "VLC of Enigma2", since anything thrown at it simply works!!!

    ============ESSENTIAL INFO============

    IPTV Player E2 plugin

It works on mipsel and SH4 platforms (auto-detection, I think during installation)!

The plugin can give you, for instance, FilmOn (UK Live, with BBC, ITV, Ch4 etc.) and much, much more, in terms of IPTV!

I use it with SmartDNS service (cheap!!! [you can even get it all encrypted via a proxy server with VPN in various countries]) to get the UK IP address and it works (Smart DNS Proxy + SmartVPN):

For your privacy and protection, streaming of just about anything anywhere and a much better piece of mind:
Or for $25 you get more (VPN encryption etc. included) for 2 years!

Study and get it - I have it for a while now and it does what it says! No snooping in on you, whatever you are doing, chatting, downloading, watching - it stays private!
    Good luck! smile emoticon

Put the attached .ipk in /tmp folder of your E2 'powered' STB and install the usual way, then go to Plugins and start the IPTV Player > Update the plugin to the latest version first (new ones keep coming up on a daily basis, sometimes more than one, even...)! Restart E2 is automatic.

Go to MENU > Setup > System > Configure IPTV Player the way you need it to be - plenty of options there but don't be lazy, it is good that you have all those options!!!

Then, when you choose, for example, the Web Stream section and go to FilmOn, for instance > UK Live TV > (blue button) More > Set Active Movie Player > if you have a good IT provider/fast connection choose "[external] without buffering" > I usually choose low bitrate but you can try high, too, see if it works... It is easier on the memory and it works, generally speaking, as mentioned above...

Local Media section gives you whatever shared folders in your home network you already mounted and it works really beautifully, at least on my system! Even heavy-duty 1080p + DTS mkv's (no FF or RW functions), never mind the 'regular' avi's or mp4's (FF and RW work there)!!!

Enjoy testing and then using relentlessly!!!

How to get ffmpeg into OpenATV

    In telnet:

    Code:
    cd /tmp
    wget http://iptvplayer.pl/resources/opena...g_2.7.1.tar.gz
    tar -C / -xvf openatv5_sh4_ffmpeg_2.7.1.tar.gz
    sync
    reboot
Install IPTV Player v. 67.02.02.01 from Plugins > Download Plugins > Extensions.

Confirm various suggestions during installation process...

Restart GUI > IPTV Player > update it > restart.

Start it again and then, if memory serves, IPTV Player shall install External Player 3.

If you setup your HDD and USB stick correctly...

Go to IPTV Player and configure it > Cache, buffering, recording paths + the External Player bits, AAC to be done via SW (this is in EP3 part of config).

You have options for streaming: HIGH or LOW bitrate/quality, as well as with or without buffering...

Now, the box is also IPTV capable and it is working well in that department, too!

    The author's suggestion:

I sugest to continue developing solution based on libeplayer3 initially prepared for SH4 but only some formaters need to be rewritten to MIPSEL.

The only platform with BRC MIPS I've ever had was DM800SE I writte h264 and AAC formater and compile ffmpeg and eplayer3 for it and it's works.

    For example, the folowing stream:

    http://www.quirksmode.org/html5/vide...buck_bunny.mp4

played with gstreamer take 80MB of RAM memory where
with libeplayer3 the same stream take only 30MB.

Yes, I know that a new STB models have 1/2/3/4GB of RAM, but this is not only a reason.

    Why ffmpeg? Because:
Which is better: FFmpeg or GStreamer? Why? - Quora

ffmpeg is also base for KODI (XBMC) player and works very well as probably we all know.
So, this seems to be the way forward...

IPTV Player - development thread - Page 7 - [EN] Third-Party Development - Forums - Page 7 - c'mon, guys, this is good stuff to seriously enhance our old and rather limited SH4 boxes!!!!

    Get busy, please!

    Hi:

I have installed in my Gigablue Quad Plus with OpenATV 5.1.

It worked, but first I din not accep IptvPlayer options to install sugested binaries.

But, after accepting to install things like "rtmdump is deprecated, do you want to install the new one, all my iptv strems outside IptvPlayer, i.e. from IPTV List updater, were stopped after a few seconds playing, sound was missing and box was frozen. Same with Ondemand streams or TSmedia filmon streams. I did not install suggested version of GSstreamer, because iptv player said it was not detected version 1.X and I know OpenATV contains versión 1.5.x.

Now I am doing a new flash, trying to solve box freezing and I will not install and test again IPTV Player unless moderators/devolopers recommend test again OpenATV 5.1 compatibility. Thanks.

Sorry if this is a wrong place to post (5.0), feel free to move this post to a convenient thread under OpenATV 5.1 if preferred.

    Regards.

Have you tried doing as suggested in the post above, "how to get ffmpeg into OpenATV"?!?

Then, do everything as suggested by the application - don't try to be clever...

Try the attached file and simply OK everything it suggests...

Btw, Alien1/2 (STi 7111/7162) would benefit the most from ffmpeg, since the limited RAM.... This is the point of this thread!

BRDCM - do as suggested by the app...

    Hi:

Thanks. Does this applies/works also to OpenATV 5.1 mipsel (Gigablue quad plus)?

Just another question, is there any audio config not compatible With it (surround, autovolume, bypass, ...)? Just trying to know why streams got frozen after installing iptvplayer and some binary files suggested for this plugin.

Should we open specific thread for OpenATV 5.1 iptvplayer feedback?

    Best regards.

OpenATV Team: this is your significant, systemic improvement for SH4 boxes with tight memory problems galore!!!!

Take notice, please!!!! Have a look at ffmpeg for streaming in particular, as it is seriously smaller in RAM footprint terms!!!!
