I had no problems flashing the 4.2, is it still recommended to install the new boat-loader ?

yes - it makes sense to flash the new one. This is the first one which makes properly use of initrd.bin on flashing from usb-stick.

new Bootloader Online to fix the issue: http://www.opena.tv/downloads/3-bootloader/
    Hi:

My box is a Gigablue Quad Plus with OPENATV 4.1 (flashed online from 4.0; in the flash procedure was prompted to reinstall in 4.1all the 4.0 installed plugins).

Is updating bootloader mandatory for a correct flashing of 4.2?

If I install last bootloader version, is is still posible to boot my current working 4.1 in order to flash 4.2 reinstalling automatically all 4.1 plugins?

    Regards and thanks in advance.

As mtd layout has changed - no. your installed 4.1 would no longer work.

You have to create a full backup of openatv 4.1 first.
    Then flash new bootloader.
Then flash your fullbackup of openatv 4.1 .
Then you should be able to do what you want.

Thanks for your clear answer. Could you please recommend the best (and safest) way to make the full backup?

I have tried to make a backup in the past but with now success when re-flashing (as far as i remember not all files needed were created).

At the moment, backup via Software Manager creates 6 files: imageversion, kernel.bin, lcdwaitkey.bin, lcdwarning.bin, noforce and rootfs.bin. Should it be ok?

    Regards.

    Thanks.

I proceeded exactly as stated above: flash new bootloader, flash full backup 4.1 via usb and then via software manager -> local flash I flash 4.2 with files 20140816 in path

    /media/hdd/fullbackup_gigablue/quadplus/openatv-4.2-gbquadplus-20140816_usb/gigablue/quadplus/

I press green button and after that, I get "Error remounting root!". Attached screenshot. I swith off the box, no image is booted and I only can flash again 4.1 backup.

    Tried again but same result.

    Any solution for this?

Post update: Tried with all files directly in path /media/hdd/images/tmp. This way it is prompted to backup settings and then i have the option of flashing, restoring settings and plugins. But when flashing i got same error remounting root. I have disconnected any telnet or ftp session during the procedure.

Thanks very much in advance. Gigablue Quard after flash openatv 4.2 does not start-uploadfromtaptalk1408235786343.jpg

Just solved by stopping OPENVPN after using forum search (sorry).

    All up and running now!

    Cheers.
