    Hello,

I ordered a Gigablue UHD 4K receiver with 4 satellite tuners. My idea was to use it as a "TV server" for three other tuners in my house.
As I am a noob concerning SatPI, can somebody explain the benefits of SatPI over bouquetstreaming over LAN?

    Thank you very kindly,

    tom

edit: You can respond in Deutsch, but I prefer writing in English.

let's say I'm usually using the tvbox form distance, streaming remotely.
what would be the advantage of using SATPI over legacy streaming using m3u generated files for each channel(tunerserver or downloaded from webif) ?

    Hello,
I think the benefit of SAT>IP is, that you can use the (remote) tuner(s) from your box on any compatible (network) device as "native tuner"; i.e. you can use the main channel-assignement on device / you don't have to bother with third-party-apps (i.e. my Panasonic SmartTV doesn't support that variety of straming apps and plugins - to name it, it doesn't have any Emby-Plugin - only one for Plex).
I didn't measure it myself but I would guess, that the traffic for SAT>IP streams is higher than for (specially if transcoded) streams.
If your client-device supports the streaming way out-of-the-box, then I don't see that much benefits; indeed maybe for you there's no benefit at all

    Regards

yeah, it's difficult to find any with all the information I have read all over the place.
classic way seems to be easier to use too.
the traffic should be the same. the classic method I was talking about is not by using transcoding, but direct TS.
maybe it could be an advantage if you have a TV that has Sat-IP client built in
