Chromecast connected to HDMI IN port of Gigablue Quad 4k
Good morning,
Sorty , I write this message in English but I do know if it is allowed by Forum policy ...
Currently I am using Quad 4k connected to my TV via HDMI OUT port displaying standard programs. In other words I use my TV like a monitor and tuning is done by Quad 4k.
I have Chromecast connected directly to HDMI IN of the TV and it works perfectly.
Now I would like to add a soundbar to my TV in order to improve dialogue perception and in order to do this I would like to connect Chromecast directly via HDM IN to Quad 4K. If it coud be possible I will connect soundbar to optical output of Quad.
I made a test on my own and the result is the following one :
- I switched to HDMI IN with Blue key and I see the HDMI IN screen on the TV;
- When I try to share the Chromecast contents the screen becomes black.
Before opening this post I navigated in the Forum and as far I understood this is due to HDCP protection , which does not allow to send images to HDMI OUT port.
For sure I do not want to break the copyrights laws but here it is the first question: why I can see the Chromecast contents via HDMI IN of the TV and this is not possible with HDMI IN ? Which devices are supposed to be connected to HDMI IN without problems ?
Thanks in advance for your attention
best regards
Dario

Hello, this has nothing to do with an unintentional violation, because HDCP simply prevents what is negotiated when connecting the device to the Hdmi port. According to your description, this is completely unnecessary if your TV has an optical S-PDIF port, because then you can connect the soundbar there.

ThemenstarterHi,
thanks so lot for yourr iimediate answer but perhaps I was unclear: my problem is to use Chromecast directly connected to Quad 4K via HDMI IN. I would like to know if it is feasible or not. That's all.
best regards
Dario

And I wrote that due to HDCP there will be some limitations, apart from the fact that they usually only decode 720p. If it is no longer possible to show other solutions then I don't know what a forum should be good for!
