    OpenMultiBoot issue with hard disk

    Hello guys,

I currently have ATV 6.4, and I want to use OpenMultiBoot with my hard disk, that I formatted via Windows as follows:
    1) NTFS partition (for data)
    2) EXT4 partition (for OMB)

I mounted the first partition as /hdd, and the second as /hdd2 (but also tried /sda2).

Then I enabled OMB on the EXT4 partition, and put some image (like ATV 7.1) in the folder open-multiboot-upload.
But OMB doesn't show any installable image.

Can you tell me what the problem could be?

Should I format the EXT4 partition from within the stb? How?

    @jackslater

    Hi.

Try the "mount" command in the linux-shell to see what the command shows.

As far as I know, this should look right in OpenATV 6.4:
    Code:
    ...
    ...
    /dev/sda1 on /media/hdd ................
    ...
    ...

Have you tried to set the first primary partition as ext4 for OMB, and the second primary partition to your wanted NTFS?
I'm not sure, if OMB can handle storage devices with several partitions at all.
But: Why should you want to use NTFS on that storage device? It must allways be connected to the box. Otherwise you will get malfunctions.
Make OMB working on an USB key, and keep that connected to the box. OMB should NOT be set on mechanical drives.
The other storage walking around in several systems will be your responsibility.

    Hi,

as @Papi2000 said use better a usb stick for omb because otherwise the hdd is always working and can't go sleep too.

Thank you guys for your replies.
I am doing a lot of testing. I am using a usb stick now, but I will also test the hard disk after I understand what is happening.

I discovered that if I switch to another skin then the OMB menu list actually is visible.
Currently I have the KravenHD, and I already tried to reset it to the default settings, with no success.
Can you tell me if you have this bug with the KravenHD + OMB?

Another issue that I have is that when I select an image (including the one in the flash) they often don't boot, and I have to restart the STB from the on/off button.
My STB is a VU+ Solo SE.

    Hi.

I have also had similar problems in the last few months. I had a problem installing via the OpenMultiboot plugin OpenATV 7.0 RC1 and also a new official OpenPLi image. They installed, but could not boot from them, after restarting the set-top box.

It even happened that after unpacking and installing OpenPLi, the set-top box refused to boot completely, so I had to turn off the set-top box + pull the USB memory key out + boot from the original image's flash internal memory.

Last time I had a problem again ... a few days ago. I wanted to test OpenATV 7.0 RC1. It was installed properly via the OpenMultiboot plugin, but it refused to boot after restarting the set-top box. So I removed this OpenATV 7.0 RC1 image again - via MENU in the OpenMultiboot plugin. Unfortunately, then later, after uninstalling the OpenMultiboot plugin from the internal flash memory (OpenATV 6.4), my set-top box did not start at all. It didn't even help to turn the set-top box on and off. I had to make a clean Flash image of OpenATV 6.4 and return my configuration (I have created a regular backup).

    @s3n0
What STB did you use for your tests?
Can you tell me if, using the KravenHD skin, you can see the list of the images in the OMB plugin?

I have never used KravenHD SKIN because it has a weak support from the OpenATV team itself. The mainstream of development is maintained mainly on MetrixHD SKIN.
