    Unable to install WiFi drivers

Hello. I just installed the latest version of Openatv for my 7111 spark receiver.. everything looks smooth and working fine except WiFi..I tried 3 different adapters with 3 different chips (rt3070, atheros 9k and rtl8812au) none of them worked and the receiver doesn't recognize it in any way. I did some digging on google and found out that I have to install the .ipk drivers but that didn't work either as everytime I try to install it, it gives me this meaningless message "done! 0 packages installed, upgraded or removed( 0 errors)" and then nothing happens. WiFi still not working and I don't have a LAN adapter to connect it to the internet..I'm coming to my wits end here been trying since more than 6 hours with no success so any help would be appreciated

If possible try this per telnet command:

    opkg update
    opkg install kernel-module-8812au*

Unfortunately I can't access telnet because the receiver doesn't support wired lan..can I install that with a USB stick? Or perhaps install that kernel module manually by moving it's files directly into the system's root? Nothing ever works with that package manager always fails to install ipks and doesn't even show an error message

    Hi.

If you didn't have internet there, then you probably have an older build version of OpenATV ? What is the OpenATV Enigma version and the OpenATV build version (date of last update) ?

BTW, did you also use a reboot of the device - after connecting USB WiFi to the set-top box ? ;-) Then the device should appear in MENU -> Settings -> System -> ...etc.

It is not easy to install any driver. It must fit all Enigma updates. If you haven't updated anything for a long time, then the drivers may not work properly. For example, the need for a non-existent module / library that you do not include in OpenATV because you did not use regular updates may change.

Or is your OpenATV relatively up-to-date (I mean max. 20-30 days ago) ?

Of course, it is also possible to download the IPK package manually and install it via a USB flash-drive. However, there may be some dependencies and these need to be installed first (i.e. other IPK packages that will need to be downloaded from the Internet and installed from USB).

    OpenATV 6.3:
    1. http://feeds2.mynonpublic.com/6.3/sp...4-r0_spark.ipk
    2. http://feeds2.mynonpublic.com/6.3/sp...4-r0_spark.ipk

    OpenATV 6.4:
    1. http://feeds2.mynonpublic.com/6.4/sp...4-r0_spark.ipk
    2. http://feeds2.mynonpublic.com/6.4/sp...4-r0_spark.ipk

However, this may not be enough. It depends on what kind of Kernel version you have. It also depends on other dependencies.

Thank you for your response..yes I'm using the latest version 6.4 which installed just yesterday.. pretty disappointed that it requires a lan cable to finish setup..I know devs are trying to keep this image as light as possible but would it hurt to include the most popular WiFi drivers? I tried to install the .ipk files over and over and always ended up with the same messages "0 apps installed"..I guess the only solution is to get a USB to LAN adapter or look for unofficial version with WiFi drivers pre-installed (

better use a WiFi bridge. it is working driverless, and needs no cpu-power in the box.

WiFi chispet is an awful lot in the world. Especially today ... all kinds of new WiFi standards (the latest is: WiFi-6 / IEEE-802.11ax).

Linux kernels usually only really support those WiFi chipsets that are: breakthrough, notorious, long-used, compatible in any platform, very popular, well-known, universal, affordable, ... etc. .Your chipset is probably not very popular.

Simply connect your set-top box via LAN (RJ-45) cable to the internet and fix what is needed. Today, almost everyone has an internet at home. So it can also be connected with a cable to the router.

There's no ethernet port on that receiver. You have to use a converter and not all usb-to-rj45 converters are compatible so it's a shot in the dark. WiFi works flawlessly on Spark but on Openatv no dice. And I didn't say they should support all WiFi chips out of the box just the popular ones they're well known in the linux scene like AR9271 for 2.4ghz and RTL8812 for 5ghz...all other images I tried support these chips by default only Openatv requires you to connect through ethernet and do all sorts of crazy stuff on telnet just so you'd be able to use your WiFi adapter -_-

Look in your grab box for an old adapter suiting the old kernel of the SH4-boxes.

Driver for new chipsets do not compile to those old kernels (v2.x or allready v3.x?).
