Making the external HDD visible to Windows PC
Hi,
since an external USB HDD needs to be formatted in ext3/4 to make it visibile to the box, what is the easiest way to make the recorded files available to a Windows PC?
Even with Ext2fsd the disk cannot be opened when connected to a Win10 PC.
Thank you for you advice.

CIFS is a network protocol. EXT4 or FAT32 are filesystem protocols.
If you put a network password to your box it should appear as "ROOT" and "HARDDISK" to your Windows PC.

ThemenstarterYes thank you. I mean, if I'd like to physically connect the external disk (ext3 in order to make it usable by the box) have you a smart way to access the disk on Windows?
but I understand you never need to connect it physically since you opt for the network sharing solution... thx

Box 1:Vu+ Zero 4KBox 2:Vu+ Solo SE V2Box 3:Formuer F4-TURBOHello.
Windows system has support driver for reading ext4 filesystem, but it is not perfect: Ext2Fsd Project
There are many ways to access the disk from the Enigma2 set-top box to Windows-10 (via network). The most basic way is to use the SAMBA service in a set-top box.
Normally, the OpenATV service should be ready. Just activate it and it will be installed in OpenATV automatically:
MENU -> Settings -> Network -> CIFS / Samba

I think I will use the network connection, it is already setup and really convenient, thanks for the hint.
