Thema: Strange characters in EPG info of some channels

Hi, sorry if this has been already answered, did a quick search but couldn't find anything similar.

EPG info of some channels appear as garbage in channel list as seen in the first picture, but they mostly (partly or completely) turn back to normal shortly after I click and zap to those channels, as displayed in the second pic.

I think it's something to do with the cyrillic alphabet but I'm not sure.

I'm not using any plugin for EPG, just default settings of OATV 6.4.
I deleted the EPG, but the new one gave me same result instantly.
It's weird that the EPG of SD version is unreadable, while HD one of same channel gives good EPG, they both are probably coming from the same source.

epg.dat is at etc/enigma2

I suspected it may be a skin issue and switched to default Metrix skin, but sadly garbage epg appeared with it too.
On the other hand, I tried one of multiboot images (OpenPLi) that I normally never use, and interestingly all EPG data was normal there, so I guess the device is fine.

I've been using openATV for years, this problem is new, probably a couple of months.
Reinstalling from scratch seems like a nightmare with all those configurations of 20 lnbs etc. just for seeing proper epg of a few channels.
Maybe when version 6.5 comes out, I'll try it on multiboot and see how it goes.

And it only happens with one SD channel or with all SD channels ? It could also be a DVB-provider error. Try to verify that these channels work with your friends (if they have the set-top-box, ideally with a different system / Enigma). Alternatively, if you have free time, try installing a competing Enigma on a USB memory stick (using the OpenMultiboot plugin) and verify that the EPG works also there.

As for the "epg.dat" file, you need to stop Enigma before deleting this file. Otherwise, whenever you close / start Enigma, the entire contents of the EPG are saved from memory, to a file over and over again. You must therefore stop Enigma first:

Thanks for all the info, like I said above, everythings looks fine in OpenPLi on multiboot.
As for epg.dat, I deleted it using the menu option (setup/EPG/Load-Save-Delete EPG Data), so I guess that procedure has been automatically carried out, otherwise it would be absurd to have such an option there ;-)

Ok, you deleted the Content of epg.dat, not the file itself.

Thanks for clarification, I have just deleted the file as described above, but garbage data appeared again unfortunately.
