    Hi.

This also happens to me sometimes for some channels - in the case of the Vu+ Solo SE V2 / OpenATV 6.4. Sometimes I see one nonsensical character. But if I open this channel (start watching it / switch it on the satellite tuner), the EPG event will be fixed. Instead of an accented character (Slovakia), I see a strange character, such as the "^" character (as example only).

But in my case it happens only exceptionally - really only once a month I notice something like this in the EPG information - in the MENU with a list of channels.

I estimate that there is a problem somewhere with detecting the correct language character code-page for EPG data. Or there is a problem with character encoding detection.
BTW, this can also be changed / forced in the configuration, unfortunately which is hidden under the audio settings, here:
MENU -> SETTINGS -> AUDIO -> AUTOMATIC LANGUAGE SELECTION -> EPG LANGUAGE SELECTION: Auto (the last configuration items at the bottom)
Try changing this preferred EPG language, from "auto" to your "native" language. Unfortunately, there are only two settings - the first preferred language and the second preferred language for the EPG.

Then let me know if it helped.

You will not find language preferences directly in the settings for the EPG configuration, but there is the configuration for the EPG layout - depending on the country. You can also try switching from "auto-select" mode to your country. But this probably won't help.

Hi, thanks for this new suggestion.
Unfortunately, it didn't change anything, I'm still seeing those nonsensical characters in 6.4.
Those two settings are set to "none" in 6.3 anyway, and all is fine there.

I have 20 sats in my system and I think this is only happening with some bulgarian channels on 39E Hellassat.
Haven't noticed on others, except the "U TV" on 0.8W Thor, which is a romanian music channel and normally has EPG with latin letters, but sometimes garbage EPG appears with it too. (then turns back to normal when I start watching it)
It's a total mystery that this is only present in 6.4 and 6.5. Not in 6.3 and any other image.

Another idea might perhaps help, deactivating ICE TV plugin. This plugin is involved in EPG as well, but for normal use not necessary.
Just deactivate, not uninstall, otherwise you'll get it back activated by any further update or Flash. This is due to the fact the plugin is builtin in the image.
Deactivation should be stored in settingsbackup.

Just tried with high hopes, but sadly it didn't work.
Even did a full restart just to make sure it comes in effect, tried deleteing EPG file and restarting, however it's still the same.
Thanks anyway, it really looked like a good idea as there's no ICE TV in 6.3

    Oh, finally!
Thank you so much for this, I knew there should be a very simple solution for this nonsense behaviour and here we have it at last.
I sent it both to usr/share/enigma2 and etc/enigma2, also saved a copy on PC for future updates just in case.

Thanks for pointing to the right direction, hopefully this "healthy" encoding.conf file could be integrated into both 6.4 and 6.5 with the next updates.

So now it's up to the developers from the OpenATV team to fix it :-P. And you won't need to restore this file after the update.

Just a small update for anyone interested:
encoding.conf file of 6.3 fixed the main problem, but later I noticed that it displayed hungarian letters incorrectly.
So I copied the line "hun ISO6937" from 6.4 and I have now the perfect encoding.conf at etc/enigma2
