    Harddisk sharing

    Anyone has succeeded in sharing the harddisk from one box, with another box?
    It used to be easy, but now for some reason it's no working anymore...

    I can do the "network browse" , I find the other box and it presents (by default I guess) 2 shares, "root" and "harddisk". But choosinf either of them just doesn't do anything...

    Thanks

    But can you actually see the content of the share?
    How do you connect? By fstab, on boot , ...?

    In some opciones , the network share is listed for example in AZPLAY, but its empty...

    Thanks Tomas

    have you set a password for root. If not try to set on.

    telnet:
    Code:
    passwd

    Yes, there is a password set for root.
    (eventhough connecting from PC to the share , it does not ask for the password...)
    So you specify the password in the mount details ?

    Gone try again.

    Thanks

    Yes, and for Samba you can define to require a Password in smb.conf

    As mentioned, when mounting from PC it doesnt ask for any password...

    Anyway, after defining the harddisk, naming it "hddmd" , as in your example I get this:

    On client side:
    root@azboxhd: /etc# cat fstab
    rootfs / auto defaults 1 1
    proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
    devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0
    usbdevfs /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs noauto 0 0
    tmpfs /var/volatile tmpfs defaults 0 0
    usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs defaults 0 0
    /dev/hda3 swap swap defaults 0 0
    //192.168.0.11/Harddisk /media/net/hddmd cifs username=root,password=test,_netdev,rw,iocharset=u tf8 0 0

    When I do:
    root@azboxhd: /etc# mount /media/net/hddmd
    mount: mounting //192.168.0.11/Harddisk on /media/net/hddmd failed: Permission denied

    On server side :

    root@azboxme:/etc/samba# cat smb.conf
    [global]
    load printers = no
    guest account = root
    log file = /tmp/smb.log
    log level = 1
    security = share
    server string = Dreambox %h network services
    workgroup = WORKGROUP
    netbios name = %h
    case sensitive=yes
    preserve case=yes
    short preserve case=yes
    socket options = TCP_NODELAY
    preferred master = no
    local master = no
    oplocks = no

    [Root]
    comment = Everything - take care!
    path = /
    read only = no
    public = yes
    guest ok = yes

    [Harddisk]
    comment = The harddisk
    path = /media/hdd
    read only = no
    public = yes
    guest ok = yes

    How do your files look like, if I may ask. Do you have Azbox as well?
    And on the client , the "df" shows the share mounted?
    PS I created folder /media/net/hddmd .
