After some time, there may be minor problems. Enigma images are "branded" by the manufacturer, but also by model.

Who preinstalled it for you and why ? What is already installed there ? Was there only a factory setting ?

The perfect backup can be a problem. You need to know how to back up. You must back up, for example:
- "/etc/enigma2" folder in which channel lists are stored, as well as the configuration of Enigma and plugins
- the folder where the softcam configuration files are stored if you use one (e.g. "/etc/tuxbox/config/oscam") including binary files ("/usr/bin/<softcam_name>")
- the folder where the table of available transponders should be located: "/etc/tuxbox/*.xml"
- some plugins (no need to back up them, it's better to reinstall them through the plug-in manager)

It all depends on how well you know the Enigma. If it's not a problem for you, then back up what you need from Enigma, then download the appropriate OpenATV image "AirDigital Zgemma" (https://www.opena.tv/downloads/) for your set-top box model and flash it again. Then restore all your backup files / folders.

Usually the enigma configuration (including the channel list) and the softcam configuration (connection to the decoder card used in the UNI device reader) are backed up. These are the two most important things.

While I was still an amateur, I backed up my channel list via DreamboxEDIT app. But this is not necessary, since along with a backup of the "/etc/enigma2" folder where the enigma configuration is located (a file called a stupid name as "settings"), the configuration is also a list of user channels ("userbouquet.*.tv" files). So with the "/etc/enigma2" folder, your channel lists are also backed up (which you can edit with the DreamboxEdit application).

Then it is good to back up the picons for each channel, so that you do not have to look for them. Of course, if you are an IT or Enigma expert, you can also download picons yourself.

You can also check the list of plugins to see if any are in use or missing (for example, Youtube must be installed manually, but that shouldn't be a problem).

I use bash script for my own backup, but it is customized mainly for my needs. You would have to modify this script with files and folders that you may want to back up.
