Many local free terrestrial channels are broadcast also as sat channels, but their satellite "versions" require a card which has to be bought separately (or bundled with a receiver). Once you have that card (and a suitable receiver, able to detect it) you can see those channels, without any additional expense.

    You may have life missunderstood...
    1. If they are scrambled, the distributor has taken measures, that the content only can be watched in the region and by the persons, for those he has payed for the rights to distribute to.
    2. The cards/ modules are not for free (or can you send me ten of them?), and used to descramble those services for that distribution way. So it's not longer FreeTV, but is in PayTV...
    3. no single E2 (and afaik also no box manufacturer/ reseller) has a legal license to handle the interface to cards or modules. If your plugin enables connection to them, it breaks legal rights of those license owners.
    That easy the life is...

No, I can't, because my card is not for free and I regularly bought it.

Anyway, as I said, I'm only interested in discussing technical (and legal) matters.
If you think this discussion can not focus any more on how OpenATV deals with (any) plugins when performing a "settings backup", then let's stop it here.

Thanks for your help, anyway. :]
