    About the 7z / 7za problem:

    - install the entire 7z archiver via the Shell (PUTTY app - Telnet or SSH connection):
    Code:
opkg update && opkg install p7zip-full
    About the weather problem:

    - from now in OpenATV are there two weather services (you can switch between those two services):
    1. MSN Weather
    2. Open Weather

    - for MSN service, try to verify the weather configuration via:
Plugin MENU (blue button on RCU) -> MyMetrixLite (it's SKIN Configurator) -> Weather Settings -> MetrixWeather City Name: your_city_name,your_country_name
...type your city name and country name (via keyboard - Remote Control Unit) and separate it with the comma
(the format "city, country" should be followed - city name and country name that the MSN service will then find in its database, so it must be correctly entered)

    - you can also try to switch the weather service to Open Weather
    - for Open Weather service, please leave the "MetrixWeather APIKEY" entry unchanged (there is a default key for OpenATV-Enigma2) and find the "MetrixWeather ID" entry on the internet, that is, the Open Weather ID for your country and for your city (Сurrent weather and forecast - OpenWeatherMap)

I have a similar problem with performing a full backup as described above.

I typed in the telnet command to install 7z archiver, as described in the reply, but nothing has changed and an error while trying to perform a full backup still occurs.

Maybe it would be possible to return to the previous way of performing full backups, that is, without placing them in the zip files, because it was less problematic?

Alternatively, you could give the user a choice if he wants to have a full backup in a zip file or not.

    Frazes,
try starting an archiver directly through Shell that it is working and installed:
    Code:
    7z
    #...and also try the command:
    7za

#...you can also verify installation by:
    opkg update
    opkg list-installed | grep 7z

#...if the 7-zip is on the feed but cannot be installed, you can try forced reinstall:
    opkg update
    opkg install --force-reinstall p7zip-full
If you don't have a 7-zip archiver still installed, there is probably no 7-zip archiver on your feed source. Maybe you have a different version of OpenATV or another set-top box brand - in some cases there is probably only a package version without "-full" at the end of the package name. Then try to find the available 7z archivers, like this:
    Code:
opkg update && opkg list | grep 7z
    Formuler F3 (BCM 7362-A0, 2x 750 MHz, mips)
    Formuler F4 TURBO (BCM 7362-5, 2x 750 MHz, mips)

Thanks. I will try the methods you have given and I will write whether they worked or not.

In general, I was wondering if there is any sense to pack a full backup into the zip file, because you have to unpack it anyway to restore it, unless I'm wrong?

I have a Xpeed LX2 receiver for several years and with the previous method of making a full backup there were never any problems.

Sorry I did not study OpenATV backup principle. It also depends on which plugin you use for backup. The principle may differ slightly.

However, some backup tools (plugins) can only back up the necessary files - plugins, binaries, configurations, etc. . The system is then restored by downloading from the internet + restoring your backup files.

Some backup tools (plugins), in turn, completely back up the firmware, including the boot loader, including all symbolic links, including available storage devices, etc. . I can't answer you because I haven't studied Enigma's backup. Apparently, it just backs up (archives) the entire directory structure, including subdirectories and files and symbolic links and attributes, without the boot partition (I don't know which exactly is the "mtd" boot partition).

It really depends on the used backup tool that exactly what procedure is used to back up the Enigma.

Also, for a particular Enigma edition, every backup tool can work a little differently - according to the needs of a particular Enigma.

Since I have been using OpenATV (before, when I used PKT Hyperion too) I always make a complete 1: 1 backup of the system (with all attributes, settings, etc.) before making any changes (installing a new plugin or changing the configuration, etc.), which I then upload to the pendrive and I can easily restore the previous state of the software in my receiver, if after the changes that I did something did not work properly and in this case it is not necessary that the backup was packed into a zip file, which apparently requires the installation of additional plugins.

I think that the best solution would be if the user could choose when creating a new backup if he wants to have it in a zip file or simply as files in a folder named backup date and time, as it was so far, because this solution in my opinion, it will be the most compatible with all receivers on which OpenATV can work.

Of course, this error should not be shown. Archiver "7za" should already be installed - including the backup tool you use. It's probably some little bug. But nothing prevents you from installing it yourself, ha ha.

You can also try other backup plugins, but don't know which ones are reliable, such as BackupSuite, instead of AutomaticFullbackup built-in OpenATV tool (by "betacentauri"). But the OpenATV tool is a very good tool.

7-zip has been lost from your image even after installing and later uninstalling any plug-in that uninstalled this component as a dependent module or part of an uninstall plug-in.

This is hard to say where the problem arose. Usually it all works correctly.

Can someone please explain to me what's occurring here ?

I did a backup to my hdd but after completion no backup is there. Also I cannot find a way to flash an older backup located on my hdd, all im offered is the option the flash online. All my older backups used to be shown to me, so I could chose any, but now since the menu changes none are seen any longer by the image.

    I have 7 zip installed.

There do seen to be 2 bin files in /media/hdd/images/tmp

    kernel_cfe_auto.bin
    root_cfe_auto.bin

So im guessing these have not been packed ?

If this is the case, then why ? As I stated I have 7 zip installed.

    root@vusolo4k:~# opkg list-installed | grep 7z

Package p7zip-full (16.02-r0) installed in root is up to date.

I never had any issues with saving backups and reflashing them from within the image before now. The old method always worked flawlessly.

As you can see from the Screenshot there are no errors, but as I said no backup is to be found in that location. Only the bin files I mention in /media/hdd/images/tmp

Just a moment ago via telnet I entered a command about which was mentioned before, which was supposed to display a list of archiver versions available on the feed (if I understood the meaning of this command well?).

Here is the content that appeared on the screen (similar content appeared on the screen, after entering the command that was supposed to install the archiver yesterday):

    Welcome to openATV for xpeedlx

    Updated source 'openatv-xpeedlx'.
    Collected errors:
    * opkg_download_backend: Failed to download 404 Not Found, wget returned 8.
    root@xpeedlx:~#

I suspect that the error displayed at the end is crucial, i.e. the file that has failed to download has been missing.

I will try to install the latest version of OpenATV 6.2 from the beginning and check if the archiver will already be installed in it.
