What is the "splash" ? Do you mean boot-logo (boot image) ? I don't understand where is the problem exactly ?
What about OpenATV + OpenPLi ? Did you use the OpenMultiboot plugin ? Or why do you mention OpenATV in the OpenPLi combination ? Some problems with flashing the image into your box ?
Maybe there's a problem with flashing image ?

What the OP means is the first splash screen, the same one that appears while you are flashing an image, appears after you have flashed another image eg openvix. Then the second splash screen will appear for the image you have flahed.

If you want to replace the splash.bin, please download an OpenATV- or OpenPli-Image and extract it. Then check if there is a splash.bin file in this Image. If yes, delete the rootfs.bin file and flash it. If not, find a splash.bin file on the forum or google, and put it in this Image, then delete the rootfs.bin file and flash it.

Many moons ago, i could just replace some file in en existing and running installation to get the image at boot that i liked. I do not want to reflash the system, just replace the openatv logo with the current OpenPLi logo.
1. Some Questions to straight replacement on running system:
How was it done then?
How can it be done now?
2. Why was it not done with the new flash image when OpePLI was flashed?
3. The system seemed to stop reacting to a USB boot from the USB port at boot time, to do an update. Would like to prevent a complete new reconfigure of the system.
Any help appreciated.

2. the procedure for a VU+ 4K is described somewhere in the www, and can be found by google.
3. your Apple is suboptimal to prepare an usb-key for flashing because of the additional files on storagedevices caused by the appleOS. See also there: 403 ForbiddenGrüßle

Unfortunately, OpenATV always forces its splash image file in its flashing ZIP archives. However, OpenPLi does not overwrite any splash image and always leaves only the original splash image there. So you will be left with the original splash image, from the previous Enigma2 and therefore overwritten by the OpenATV flashing firmware. Before flashing OpenATV to the set-top box, you must always delete the splash....bin file on the USB stick. Then this splash file, branded for OpenATV, will not be written to the set-top box (if you remove it from the USB stick before flashing OpenATV).
This file is called differently on each set-top box (the CFE boot-loader looks for and subsequently flashes a different file name). In the case of Vu+, this is a file named splash_cfe_auto.bin or / and splash_auto.bin. Also, the directory folder in the USB flash drive differs according to the model of the set-top box. The folder and name of the "splash.bin" file can also be found from the downloaded OpenATV flashing ZIP archive.
It is essentially a BMP image file in a characteristic resolution and in a certain specific bit depth (colors). So if you want to see what this "splash.bin" will look like, rename its extension to ".bmp" for a moment (or copy the image to a temporary folder already with the .bmp extension) and see how the image looks like.
In your case, the directory folder is as follows:
/vuplus/duo4k
And the contents of this folder, if you want to flash only the "splash" image, should be as follows:
/vuplus/duo4k/splash_auto.bin
Then insert the USB stick to your set-top box ... and turn off & turn on your set-top box... and flash it from the USB stick.
The problem is that I don't know which exact splash image should be there in the case of your Vu+ Duo4K.
I have a ZIP file with images, but Duo4K splash file is missing in it. There are several editions of these official splash boot images for Vu+ (there are about 4-5 different versions). You can try to use, for example, the splash image from Duo2. Then edit the name of the directory as well as the name of the "splash.bin" file - as required by your set-top box. And try flashing from a USB key. Warning - there must only be a "splash.bin" file on the USB stick ! So that you don't overwrite your firmware with another one.
//// EDIT:
Vu+ Update - from there you can download the original firmware for the Vu+ set-top box. Then extract the "splash_auto.bin" file from the firmware archive. It should be the original splash image file for your device. Use this splash image file.Geändert von s3n0 (19.01.2024 um 10:06 Uhr)
