OpenAtv 6 - ISDB-T Siano Usb stick

Hi all,

I'm trying to use my Siano SMS2270 USB ISDB-T stick with OpenAtv 6.0 (Azbox mini me) with no success.

The USB Stick is recognized but the MDTV receiver device is not.

I manually load the modules smsmdtv, smsdvb, and smsusb, but the MDTV receiver device is not linked to the USB device at all.
It's kind the kernel can't handle the MDTV device / can't recognize it. All the drivers installed are from the Openatv 6.0 distribution.

The stick works fine under Windows.

Any direction would be appreciated...

Hi,

Even if your usb stick recognized, you wouldn't be able to use because Enigma2 doesn't handle the delivery system ISDB-T yet.

Although, it should not be that hard to make it work, ISDB-T is like DVB-T for Brazil

I guess the dmesg command might show what might be the error, eg missing firmware or so.

Yes, ISDB-T is DVB-T for Brazil (I'm in Brazil). :-)

Unfortunately, dmesg shows no info regarding the MDTV device. It only shows a message regarding the recognition of the USB stick.

Am I missing anything else? Should I install / enable anything other than the drivers? Is it possible to know if the kernel (opensa -3.9.2) was compiled with support to the stick / chipset?

I've found some forums saying that the chipset SMS2270 is supported by the Kernel but I can't get it working at all.

Just post the dmesg (after reboot) here, we might be able to identify something in logs.

Is there an online shop that sells that usb stick? I would like to have one to play with.

There are no information about the usb stick in the dmesg.

Could you please send me a direct link of the ebay for your siano usb stick? I cannot locate something in ebay, only some usb sticks for android.

Update:
From what I've read, the version of my stick (USB ID 187F:0600) is not included in the driver provided by the plugin since the module alias for my stick is not in the list given by the command "modinfo smsusb".

Now, the great question is "how can I compile the driver with support for my stick?".

I have this one, is not ISDB-T

It is just an RTL2832U, and AFAIK current linux drivers do not support ISDB-T only DVB-T (and SDR...).

It is supported, but the enigma2 depployed driver was not compiled with the USB ID of my stick. I will try to compiled the plugin driver by myself.
