Hi usage of input/output calls on Dm800se issue

Hello, I love this image. To me is one of the best.

I understand that there is no more support for dm800se, but still I 'd like to report my experience as I believe there is something that need optimization to allow to use this worderful image properly also on older box such as dm800se.

    First my configuration:

    a) Italysat 7 in flash for multiboot, and open ATV6.3 installed in usb (plus other images )
    b) c) 500gb hdd + 4gb usb both ext4 formatted
    c) 256mb swap on usb
    c) additional plugin installed: cacheflash, dreamExplorer, dvdplayer, epgimport, epgsearch, foreca,Imbd,IPTVplayer, letterbox, magentamusik360,mediainfo,mediaportal,namezap, serviceapp, streamlinksrv, samba, openvpn.

Everythings seems to work like a sharm after a cold reboot. Menu navigation is very fast, channel navigation as well. Even mediaportal and IPTVplayer load time is accetable.

The issue is that after a while (ie 24 hours) my box becomes very very very slow and for whatever operation I do the "busy" icon on the screen stays forever. Even an Enigma2 restart does not help and the only way to solve is to proceed with a cold restart.

I've been trying to understand what is causing this issue and It seems to me that the issue is caused by system being "io wait" almost forever. In fact, when the issue is active the "wa" in the "top" command shows always value close to 100% and never goes below 90%.
Three are the tasks showing the D state Enigma2, usb-storage, kswapd0.

This is not happening after a cold stard and even with intensive menu navigation, as it is possible to notice an increase of the wa value during the navigation, but the wa value always come back to zero at the end.

I found out that the epg download with epgimport is it actually causing the issue. In other words after an epg update the wa start to increase and never comes back to zero even after the process is completed.
I'm not sure if there could be other operations causing similar issue.

This behaviour is present also in OpenAtv6.2 and OpenAtv6.4 I also noticed that the enigma2 task takes almost 100% of cpu load even when you are watching tv without playing around with anything else when the box is working ok.

With OpenPli 4 (and even with the not official OpenPli 7.2 or 10.2) this issue never shows even if I have pretty similar image configurations as far as concerning plugins and extensions.
I also noticed that the i/o time alway goes back to 0 after plugin load, epg update or menu navigation. Also Enigma2 cpu load is around 47% as an average.

I'm going to run some test with a differnd usb pen brand.

Any suggestion on what i can do to try to solve the issue as i want to stick with OpenAtv

Anyone is experiencing similar issue ?

OpenPLi4 is very old, and uses afaik older Samba.
When in slow state, you can try to restart Samba, and see, if the high CPU usage lowers. You might have a problem with wsdd (in newer images).
