Linus Torvalds hat jetzt Linux 5.10 LTS veröffentlicht:

LKML: Linus Torvalds: Linux 5.10

Neben hardwarespezifischen Erweiterungen gibt’s u.a. insbesondere zwei interessante allgemeine Veränderungen

„EXT-4 performance improvements with fast commit supprt that enables faster metadata performance, notably when using fsync. The feature needs to be enabled during mkfs.“

„Static calls for improved post-spectre performance. Static calls are replacement for global function pointers. They use code patching to allow direct calls to be used instead of indirect calls, and give the flexibility of function pointers, but with improved performance.“
