Hmm, then I don't know. My problem really was, that I didn't have the right files on my USB stick. (I didn't unzip the downloaded file.) AFAIK the SD card doesn't even have to be formatted as the update will create new partitions there anyway. But I may be wrong.

Oh, one more thing: I found that I had problems with a certain USB stick: The update started but then failed in the mid of the process. So maybe try some different USB sticks, if you can.
