    Kurzer Zwischenstand:

    Die Box bei Darkstar bootet (serielle Konsole dran - debugoutput und console im Kernel aktiviert) - es gibt aber kein DVB-Gerät und keinen Framebuffer - vermutlich gibt es Probleme die binären Dreamtreiber zu laden - sowas spricht dafür:

    [4294690.645000] stb_core: version magic '2.6.18-7.4-dm800 mod_unload MIPS32_R1 32BIT gcc-4.6' should be '2.6.18-7.4-dm800 mod_unload MIPS32_R1 32BIT gcc-4.8'

    Das ist sehr schlecht... - Kernel und Module mit verschiedenen GCCs zu Bauen ist nie eine gute Idee..

    I believe stb-core is part of the Dream Multimedia tuner drivers.
    And I think gcc 4.8 produces a kernel which is not compatible with these closed drivers.
    You can try to pass -D_GNU_SOURCE to the cflags when building the kernel.
    Maybe it will work

    I applied all patches manually to the linux-2.6.18.tar.bz2 and the recreated a linux-2.6.18.tar.bz2 form it, changed the linux-dreambox_2.6.18.bb to fetch the kernel source from a local location and removed all other SRC_URI patch files.
    Code:
    inherit machine_kernel_pr

    MACHINE_KERNEL_PR_append = ".1"

    PATCHREV = "ac6cc9511a5f70eaa584c63fc5c3de33cae1d0e7"

    SRC_URI = " \
            http://localhost/linux-${PV}.tar.bz2;name=kernel \
            file://defconfig \
    "
    SRC_URI[kernel.md5sum] = "add23a00b881f8c502e31d7e69af0e90"
    SRC_URI[kernel.sha256sum] = "364695495da25ff5a96b9b4c294aa826d9267d6a0be776a217bf8466bb21b87e"

    S = "${WORKDIR}/linux-${PV}"

    require linux-dreambox.inc

    do_install_append() {
            cp include/asm/asm-offsets.h $kerneldir/include/asm/asm-offsets.h
            cp scripts/basic/fixdep $kerneldir/scripts/basic/fixdep
            cp scripts/mod/modpost $kerneldir/scripts/mod/modpost
    }
    For now the bitbake linux-dreambox ends with the following error:

    all modules are loaded! enigma2 starts - but it crashes after a short time with:
    Code:
      File "/usr/lib/enigma2/python/mytest.py", line 335, in open
        dlg.isTmp = True
    AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'isTmp'
    open /dev/dbox/fp0 for wakeup timer clear failed!(No such file or directory)
    ------------------------------------------------------------
    (exit code 5)
    Any hints? This seems to be a enigma2 problem..

    @gjstroom, same problem here.
    Issue a:
    Code:
    file
    /data2/oe-alliance.branding/builds/openatv/dm800/tmp/work/dm800-oe-linux/linux-dreambox/2.6.18-r3.1/package/usr/src/kernel/scripts/mod/modpost
    And you can see that it has probably been built with your host compiler (x86 in my case).
    Most of the binaries in the kernel/scripts directory are compiled for your host, even when cross-compiling, because those binaries are normally used for installing the kernel (and you cannot run mips binaries).
    You need to tell bitbake to not try to strip the modules/binaries in the /scripts directory, I don't know how devzero worked around this.

    @devzero
    You can try to adjust the kernel config and enable CONFIG_MODVERSIONS:
    Code:
    Module versioning support found in init/Kconfig

    The configuration item CONFIG_MODVERSIONS:
    Prompt: Module versioning support

    Usually, you have to use modules compiled with your kernel.
    Saying Y here makes it sometimes possible to use modules
    compiled for different kernels, by adding enough information
    to the modules to (hopefully) spot any changes which would
    make them incompatible with the kernel you are running. If
    unsure, say N.
    Also try to pass -D_GNU_SOURCE to the CFLAGS, which tends to use more backwards compatible functions.

    Let's hope this will load the DMM drivers.
    If not, then I guess the only option is to revert back to gcc 4.6 for the regular old DM800.
    I don't think DMM will release the source-code anytime for the DM800.
    Also since this receiver is out of support, I don't think they'll release updated drivers for kernel 3.x.

    Would you mind posting the complete patch which produces an image?

    Great!
    How did you solve the module problem? Did you revert back to gcc 4.6?
    Also would you mind posting the complete patch?
