    Serious Memory Leak in Enigma2

Open ATV 5.3.0 Kernel 3.9.2 compiled by hepu17 at 26.05.2016

    Hi all,

It seems there is a serious memory leak in Enigma2, more specific in the webinterface software.

Investigating a proper in house streaming solution I'm testing KODI on a raspberrypi.
My AZbox Premium Plus acts as a streaming server.
The idea is no coax cables in the house any more. (We moved homes.)

First results are there is nothing wrong with KODI on a Raspberry if you have a good functioning WiFi connection.
    Better use wired LAN connection.
But the AZbox as a streaming server turned out to be "a pain in the neck".
Running ATV 5.3.0 standard kernel 3.3.1 was unusable!
After a few zaps from KODI the AZbox crashed completely (unpingable).

Then I found in the Kernel 3.9.2 thread an image compiled by hepu17. Thank you hepu17, whoever you are.

The 3.9.2 kernel is much more stable indeed! No crashes anymore.
However after 1 day of operation the party was over. The AZbox stopt functioning.
At first I thought the kernel had crashed after all, but that was not the case!
It was still possible to ping the AZbox and even to login via telnet, although very slowly.
Memory turned out to be the problem.
The system had run out of swap completely!
My 125MB hda3 partition was filled up, leaving the system without any free memory.
No wonder the box stopt functioning!
Without memory you can't fork new processes or start new threads.

The problem seems to be related to the webinterface.
Each click in the browser fills up swap more and more.

    As a workaround I increased hda3 to 256MB and created a new cronfile /etc/cron/crontabs/root:
    (Activate with # crontab -e)

    5 5 * * * /sbin/reboot

This should reboot the box each night at 5:05.

As a next step in investigating a in house streaming solution I'm going to replace
the AZbox with tvheadend on a Linux PC. Hopefully this is more stable and offers timeshift.
If this functions well, this will end the AZbox story.
    Sorry guys.

If there is a leak in WebIF, then you should post this (google translate) in the 5.3 Rueckmeldungen Forum.. I doubt this will get any attention here in the Azbox forum...

Following line added to "/etc/cron/crontabs/root" to put box in standby mode after reboot:

    15 5 * * * wget -O /dev/null -q 404 Not Found

    Works great!
