Howto replace 256MB DOM with CF card

Since the OpenATV images are rather big, I want to replace the 256MB DOM of my AZbox Premium HD+ by a 4GB CF card.

Another option would have been to replace the 256MB DOM with a bigger DOM, but CF cards are more modern, faster,
have a good availability and can easily be read/write with a PC.

A little research learned me that an "industrial" CF card should do the job.
The issue here is endurance.
Enigma2 does memory paging on partition 3 of the DOM .
This means regular flashes on the DOM limiting lifespan.
Cheap consumer CF cards will be worn out fast.

What I didn't realize is, that the IDE/CF-card adapter needs external 5V power.
The DOM gets it's power from the IDE connector, the CF-card not.

Question is where to get the 5V power from.
An option would be to use the Yamon/serial connector.
As a consequence a Yamon rescue only can be done replacing the CF-card with the original DOM first.

Has anyone experience with replacing a DOM with a CF card?
Suggestions are welcome!
