First Impressions of the Amiko Viper 4K

I got to test this box for a few hours and despite its cheap looks, I was pleasantly surprised. It's decently fast, the rcu is not that crappy (it's similar to that of the Viper Combo HDD) and it checks many boxes, detailed below.

    • S2X, multistream + PLS support (tested, working)
    • 64bit/ExtCW
    • HDR with Dolby Vision output (selectable, can't actually confirm it works)
    • AC3+ audio decoding
    • dB display for sat tuner (cable/terr not tested yet)

    What's missing:

    • YouTube TV (don't know how to install it)
    • VP9 decoding might be missing (would need YouTube TV to test)

As for general use, the box was working fine, no crashes or A/V sync issues whatsoever. The box seems to need a micro SD card for software update which I didn't have access to at the time of testing, it's not possible to update the box off USB.

I should have access to this box for a while so if you have any questions, just throw them at me.

Managed to test VP9 decoding. Profile 0 works with hardware acceleration all the way up to 4k. Profile 2 10bit reverts to software decoding and the CPU is not able to keep up.

Der Style des Gehäuses, die Füße und vor allem die Fernbedienung erinnert mich stark an meine Octagon.
Wie sind denn die technischen Daten?

Simplest way to restore factory image is to enter "recovery mode"
... press the back thumb and power-on ! then after "updt" is shown ,
choose from the menu online upgrade !!! this will restore OpenATV 6.2 !
or ... unarchive the image on a FAT32 memory stick and choose it as
    local FW source.
