ThemenstarterSo, no explanation of the meaning and function of ZSWAP, as well as the difference of ZSWAP and SWAP, please?
Why limiting RAM even more? What do we get as an advantage?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zswap
zswap is a Linux kernel feature providing a compressed write-back cache for swapped pages. Instead of moving memory pages to a swap device when they are to be swapped out, zswap performs their compression and then stores them into a memory pool dynamically allocated inside system's RAM. Later writeback to the actual swap device is deferred or even completely avoided, resulting in a significantly reduced I/O for Linux systems that require swapping; the trade-off are additional CPU cycles required for compression.[1][2][3]
As a result of reduced I/O, zswap offers advantages for various devices using flash-based storage, including embedded devices, netbooks and similar low-end hardware devices, as well as other devices using SSDs for storage. Flash memory has a limited lifespan due to its nature, so avoiding its usage for providing swap space prevents it from wearing out quickly.[4]

When you follow the link from zeini you find the WIKI with description

In older kernels this is called compcache or ramzwap. The idea of this sounds nice but in my opinion it is not. You steal a lot of mem from the OS to provide space for compression. If you need swapping you normally have overstuffed your device it maybe better to reduce stuff.
On sh4 for example you have about 30MB of free RAM using them for zwap means stealing all free ram ending in "SWAPPING" all time. In case of zwap this lowers your CPU speed.
Or buy a box with more RAM. Nobody serious buys a fiat 500 (Bambino) to transport his luxury yacht and complains the dealer being overstuffed .

Zswap is not really a swap. It compressed only data in RAM. It means "zipped RAM".
Swap is an extern medium, there RAM would be outsorced if it is to small.______________________

Japp but you need RAM for compression too . You need some tables for loosless compressors and you need RAM to store stuff at. The more compression rate the more CPU is normally needed. Strip down your memory eaters to get rid of the root cause. Have you ever tried to compress jpgs in zip? In most cases the result is bigger than before

ThemenstarterI reported streaming that causes a deep freeze, over the home network playback which slows everything down etc.
So, yes, this image needs a proper streamlining, it seems...
