You should get it from the pros, Buc, like I did: when SWAPPING occurs - it's not a good sign!

The machine should not do that, rather it's the image that should be rid of memory eaters (Graugans)!

So, get a new set of eyes, start reading AND remembering what you were taught, do not clean your cache etc.

You have plenty to think about here and on Satforum.me, esp. from Tromoto and Graugans! I told you to get rid of "cache flush" plugin and so on, as tromoto called its activity destructive!

You have been warned many times but you keep the old prejudices going - to your own peril! Balkanic stubbornness at its "finest"...

    Night, night...

P.S. Also, I hope OpenATV learn from Graugans' advice not to use the zSWAP or whatever it's called, as it eats processor power and RAM, hence it really eats up some crucial memory...

Flash Expander - what is not clear here?

    1) Prepare a USB memory stick, using Easeus Partition Master Home (freeware/gratis) 9.x app.

    2) Right click on USB stick (be careful not to erase an HDD!!!) >
    Delete partition >
then, erase all of your partitions, if you have more than one >
Create the first partition (Primary in EXT 2/3 format) of some 1/2 GB or so >
Make another partition, using the rest of the stick >
    Apply, confirm and wait...

    3) Put USB stick in your Alien and when it is auto-mounted (although it is better to mount them yourself using Device Manager [see the following post for details]), go to
MENU > Plugins > Flash Expander and give it a go, "expanding" to the first, smaller partition (make a note what it is called!)!

When you choose the partition and confirm, it will do a quick job and automatically restart the box!

If you're very lucky, this will work correctly - but I have my doubts...

    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

    Second partition is used for:
-SWAP (256 is OK, 1/2 GB if you're very sad ),
    -EPG,
    -Picons,
    -TS Media downloading,
-DDsubtitle Player by Damir (subs files) and
-whatever else of that type you need...

FE partition is NOT USED for ANYTHING ELSE, other than "expanding"!!! Do not mix with SWAP, EPG, picons and whatnot!

But on 4.1 FE did not work correctly, in my Alien2, as I already mentioned and you know it....

Better solution: we need the whole flash for Enigma2, with a bigger E2 partition!

When Graugans comes back... I will ask him to sort it out...

    Cheerio!
    A question....
I have a internal HDD in my box but I prefer install FE in a USB PEN because meking so the HDD don't work all the time ....I haven't the fan!
There are trouble with FE in a partition of a USB PEN and a HDD internal in a box?

    For example:
After this configuration, wnhen I will go to download a file, the box ask me where put it?

Thank very much for Your replu.

    I don't understand your question...
FE is always running, so is better to put it into the primary partition of the USB PEN for give more life to Your internal HDD.

But after this, You will have two HDD: one in the secondary partition ot the USB PEN and another one is Your internal HDD.

So when You will go to download a file using a plugin like mediastream or others,, the image wil ask You in which HDD download the file ??

    Thanks.

USB stick with 2 partitions > unmount them (automount is not good here!)!

Mount them again, as sda 1 and sda 2.

Smaller as sda1 and that is for FE - ONLY FE and nothing else!!!

Bigger, sda2 for SWAP, EPG, picons etc. Make sure they go to those locations precisely as described!

Plug in HDD and mount as sdb1.

Go to Recording path and set up manually to sdb1/movie. Likewise with Timeshift etc. (use Menu button to change to file system, away from bookmarks etc.)

    Voila!
