Unhappy After flash of Bootloader and openatv 4.2 no boot

    Hi,

I have tried to flash to 4.2.
First flashed the bootloader (20140724) and the box rebooted as expected
    Flash of 4.2 (20141017) didn't start

    Re-flashed the bootloader
and tried again and flash 4.2 started and after the flash the re-boot is stuck and i only see a boot logo

What is wrong and how can i fix this.

    HELP !

    Greetings

Delete the folder "gigablue" on the flashstick and your computer. Unzip the image again onto the flashstick, so that the folder is created again, and try flashing. I think, it will work. Otherwise, try another stick.

You don't need to go back. The actual Bootloader is perfect working with all Images.
Are you shure, you only tried the right bootloader for Quad_Plus (NOT QUAD!)?
Is ther other HArdware plugged in in USB?
Is there a Harddisc in the box?
    How was it formatted?
Try making the box complete powerless (power off and HDMI unplug).

    Hi,

    Here some more information.
Due to the fact the flash of the OpenATV 4.2. didn't start i was not sure i had the right bootloader installed
By mistake i found in a forum a newer bootloader but what i didn't see that it was for the QUAD and not the QUAD plus.
This bootloader also had a burn.bat file which afterwards was the big issue.

Installed the correct bootloader en flashed images over and over again but no reboot.
After several attempts and hours of searching in forums i found a post having similar problems where such a burn.bat file was involved.
The file contained a command : setenv -p STARTUP "boot -z -elf nandflash0.kernel:
This made a wrong configuration of the box and the box tried to boot from USB stock and that didn't work.
So every flash didn't reboot for that reason.

Correct the configuration by a adjusting the burn.bat file with command : setenv -p STARTUP "boot -z -elf flash0.kernel:
and the reboot started and could finish the image flash.

    Greetings,

So you tried a bootloader for another boxtype, and wondering, your box doesn't start? Hmmm.
After changing the environment back, it will work for you.
    And in future:
If you make it the right way, it will work.
And hands off "burn.bat"! Delete the wrong bootloader and all burn.bats in your system. They are meant to repair things, that should not be twisted in normal cases, but happened some times through usage of wrong burn.bat.

Its by mistake that can happen.
And by the way it was not bootloader itself but the burn.bat file that set the environment wrong.

Those files should not be in the download of images or bootloaders at the first place.

When flashing an image you see the progress and at the end if it completed ok.
The flash method of a bootloader does not give any information back about success or not ... it would help so that you know that it was successful.

Sorry. For the GB Quad there where some unauthorised burn.bat out there in the wild.
GB tried, to catch all Quads forced back to the latest standard, used for this type of box. So it was necessary to deliver a burn.bat for that special bootloader for that box.
Mistakes can happen - and bootloaderflash is allways dangerous. So users should check ten times, before doing.
And the mentioned bootloader was secured before unpacking with a password - so you have in the name and in ithe password of the zipfile the reference to quad, and not to quadplus...

But in the end, you could solve the problem, you made, and your box is running again.
