    Formating Dom

Hi All, I have the premium plus and either my DOM which is the standard 256 is corrupt or I have somehow loaded E2 on both ext 2 and ext 3 because after downloading the latest E2 image I cannot install the media portal due to lack of space, is there a way I can reformat the DOM or maybe I could go back to official firmware and then reinstall E2.

    Any advice please thanks
    James.

Cou cant have 2 file systems at the same time ;-)
ok you can but i dont think you have partitioned your DOM on your own at you pc (because we would discuss this if you would know how to do this)

Every time you are installing Enigma2 on you Azbox using Azup the DOM is getting formatted by the tool
there you can choose if you wish if it should be ext2 or ext3 formated

    You should choose ext2
because there you will get more free space
(why? read the wikipedia ^^ what the differences between ext2 and ext3 are)

Try it this way at first
and then tell us what telnet says
    type: cat /proc/partitions

it should look like this (more or less ^^)

    root@azboxhd:~# cat /proc/partitions
    major minor #blocks name

    3 0 250880 hda
    3 1 187391 hda1
    3 2 4096 hda2
    3 3 59392 hda3
    3 64 976762584 hdb
    3 65 976760832 hdb1
    31 0 8192 mtdblock0
    31 1 128 mtdblock1
    31 2 128 mtdblock2
    31 3 256 mtdblock3
    31 4 6656 mtdblock4
    31 5 1024 mtdblock5

    hda is your DOM

    if everything is ok
maybe just the image got bigger ;-)

Hi Colla thanks for your assistance, I think it is the image that got bigger I have loaded an image dated 2/3/2014 which is smaller than the latest image by a third and that allows me to install the media portal, the problem is now when I try to do a software update I get a warning that the image is old and an update could make the box unstable.

So the standard DOM is too small for the latest image and a software update on the older image could stuff the box up altogether, I notice from my telnet results below that you have a harddrive, could I load the new image on a harddrive that I have using AZup then I will have unlimited space?

    root@azboxhd:~# cat /proc/partitions
    major minor #blocks name

    3 0 250880 hda
    3 1 187391 hda1
    3 2 4096 hda2
    3 3 59392 hda3
    31 0 8192 mtdblock0
    31 1 128 mtdblock1
    31 2 128 mtdblock2
    31 3 256 mtdblock3
    31 4 6656 mtdblock4
    31 5 1024 mtdblock5

Thanks again for your help at least I know it is the limitations on the DOM and not my doing.

    Kind regards,
    James.

    The harddrive is slow
its not the best place for an Image ;-)

There are two possibility’s for you

First you can change your DOM
just buy a bigger one and install the image with Azup 2.2.8

    or
install the Image (without addons just the fresh image)
put a ext3 formatted pendrive at your azbox
and now install and use the flashexpander plugin

It copys partly your image on the pendrive
and you will get nearly unlimited space for plugins

I have managed to get a 2GB 40 pin DOM but Azup 2.2.8 does not recognise the DOM when I try to install the image, so it is either a faulty DOM or maybe the DOM needs formattiing...how can I check if the new DOM is faulty.

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Yes, I also think so. "Didn't find storage deice!"is not good. Look, if DOM is plugged on correctly!

I believe some DOM devices need the power cable connected or they will not show up.
I have seen posts on this, there is a place you can connect in the Azbox for 5v supply. Google it.
